Its a shame when players of their caliber go through a career and come so close to winning a title, but have to retire without ever winning one. And unlike so many NBA players today these are guys who play extremely hard every night, play extremely smart basketball, never miss practices, never even miss any games. And they've been doing it for EIGHTEEN YEARS!!! It's incredible. Players who give it that much effort and take it that seriously deserve to win.

Are you telling me you didn't feel any sympathy whatsoever for Barkley...having to retire without ever winning a championship? That must be what you're saying because Stockton and Malone are right on the same level.

You mean other then Divac saying after game 1 that Utah gave them their best shot and it wasn't good enough and that Utah was finished? That doesn't sound like humble words to me! And Webber taking cheapshots at Francis, Mobley and Houston just because they didn't sign his sorry @ss! Sacramento DOES suck! Screw them!

I guess that's what I am saying. Barkley had an even better chance than Stockton and Malone to win a title. He had homecourt on Jordan, a 2-0 series lead on Houston and a 3-1 series lead on Houston, plus he had a better supporting cast in Phoenix that Stockton and Malone ever had. He couldn't get the job done. Trust me, Barkley does NOT need anybody's sympathy. He enjoyed playing basketball more than anybody of his time, and got paid very well to do it. If you feel like pouring your heart out to Barkley, Stockton, and Malone, be my guest...

Coulda seen this comign from a mile away. The Kings enter as the #1 seed and face the Jazz (4-0 in regular season meetings). I have been listening to the Kings radio shows, Its becoming very annoying. All The Fans are already looking at playing The Lakers. They think this is just a season series. Welcome to the National Basketball Association Playoffs.

Believe me. I'm not "pouring my heart out" for them by any means. The Rockets aren't in the playoffs so my interest in who actually wins is very small. But Malone and Stockton have been doing it for longer than anyone in the league, I would say they have paid their dues more than anyone else in the league, therefore they deserve to win a championship more than anyone else in the league. That was all I meant by my Original statement, and I don't really see how that's very arguable.

And yes, Barkley had a great career, but he wanted a championship very badly. Took a paycut to come to Houston in the hope to win a championship and it didn't happen. It was a shame. Yes, he was getting paid a lot of money. But anybody can use that argument to wipe out any drama or emotion involved with professional sports. But that's a pretty weak argument in my opinion and is completely overused.

"Malone and Stockton were such great players, but they just never could win a championship...ah, who cares they were getting paid."

"Phil Mickelson was an incredible golfer, but he never could win a big tournament...ah, who cares. he was getting paid."

"Dan Marino was possibly the best QB of all time and had a great work ethic, but he never won a Super Bowl...who gives a s**t, he's rich."

See, I can do it too! I don't even see the point in watching professional sports if that's the way you look at it.

So do I. I like Barkley ten times better! I'm trying to be objective.

But I can tell you that I definitely wasn't a Barkley fan when he was on the Suns. And I would say much more people all over the country hate Barkley more than Malone or Stockton. The only difference is Charles played for our team! He did a lot of cheapshots back in the day and talked some trash about the Rockets. I was not a Barkley fan when he was on the Suns.

Players like Malone and Stockton do not deserve rings. No one cheats, whines, moans, and generally plays dirty more than Stockton, Malone, and the Utawful Hazz-beens.

Despite what we're told by NBA commentators- who love to shove the greatness of Stockton and Malone down our throats at every opportunity- no players are hated more around the NBA. Those f***s shouldn't have even made the playoffs. Kings in four, though I hate them too.

I don't know how the rivalry could ever end. As long as Stockton and Malone keep on cheating over there, the rivalry never ends.
