Because Embiid actually is funny, and comes off as genuine. Dwight comes off as a painfully unfunny guy who's trying too hard. He's the Michael Scott of the NBA. Joel's likable; Dwight wants to be liked. Also, Embiid's already a much more skilled basketball player. Unlike Dwight, he's actually fun to watch.
