On second thought, I don't know if it's Sarah Palin's, but having a Neo-Nazi shop side-by-side with African-American youths without coming to immediate blows is certainly "real America." So is this guy:
The fact is, this is the country you live in. It's not the sanitized, upscale version you see on TV. The good news though is you really don't have to try that hard, be that rich or that good looking to be above average. then you can be all smug and superior
You raise a good point and maybe we shouldn't be so smug and judgemental. I am curious though about why some people decided to dress like that. I'm not going to deny that I have some embarrassing and stupid crap sitting in my closet that I have worn. Maybe it would be good for our own humility to wear something stupid out in public everynow and then.
Or could it be that neither individual has any real knowledge of history thus no understanding what the symbol means in Hindu culture or contemporary Europe? Ignorance is bliss.
Or, maybe it means whatever she thinks it means because it's on her shirt, or she's wearing it as ironic commentary and that's her boyfriend. Maybe she's a hell of a lot sharper than you give her credit for but because she's at walmart and you maybe decided she's a "type" and can't be bothered with the serious labor of finding out who an individual is.... or simply withholding judgment until you do.
"in Hindu culture or contemporary Europe", thats rich, thats really really funny. I think it would be a safe bet to say that 70% of people in america or europe world have no idea of its historical/cultural use outside that of Nazi Germany. (I would have said the world but there are alot of people in India.)
