I'd like to see Malick and Tree of Life win best picture, director, and cinematography. Most likely the academy goes in a different direction, but it's still a remarkable film from a true master.......
I used to make sure I saw all the best pic nominees....but stopped when they upped it to 10. This year I've seen......none.
I was just about to post that I haven't seen any this year either. The only one I had a remote interest in seeing was Moneyball.
Last year I saw all 10 nominees, but this year only 3 nominees.I have seen The Descendants, Midnight in Paris, and Moneyball. Moneyball is nowhere near the class of the other 2, how it was nominated is beyond me.
I think Tintin was snubbed this year. These voters suck. I expected 'Drive' to at least receive a nomination. Not a fan of the nominations this year.
And for like the 10th year in a row I have not seen a single movie on the "Best Picture" list. Are these movies realy that great? Just for the heck of it I saw Avatar; it was ok. Are the winners deserving? Just for the heck of it I watched Anie Hall, and compared and contrasted it to Star Wars, and I thought:
Saw The Help, Hugo, and Midnight in Paris. All were good (Hugo was surprisingly good), but they don't quite stand out to me like Gladiator, No Country for Old Men, or others.
Of ALL the movies listed, I've seen Moneyball and Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy. Next year should have a ton of great movies though, so there's that. EDIT: *THIS year. Jesus.
2012 is gonna be an amazing year.. 2011 was forgettable just absolutely dreadful of movies that year.... 13 Assassins not nominated for Best Foreign Picture???
I've only seen Midnight in Paris and Moneyball from that Best Picture list. Going to see The Descendants and The Artist this weekend. And been wanting to see the Tree of Life for a while so I'll watch that soon Where is Drive on that list? Girl with the Dragon Tattoo? Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy? How did Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, which has gotten lackluster reviews, make the Best Picture noms over those three? Drive is in my top 2 this year (with Midnight in Paris, hard for me to choose my favorite)
