Your chickens are sick. Speaking as a vegan, I do care that people are content with eating what is considered dirty and filthy food. Seeing videos of how many of these animals are breed, raised and slaughtered, I can't imagine how meat eaters can eat anything other than organic/free-range (some tag to lend to the sanitation conditions of the animal). This announcement by the Iowa governor of a state of emergency coupled with the listeria outbreak at Blue Bell leads me to believe that what gets swept under the rug and kept out of the media lens is so bad that the whole livestock industry should be in a state of emergency.
This is just unbelievable. Now the US Congress is approving over $300 million of emergency funding. Instead of spending money to keep their chicken coops clean, these companies are putting it on the tax payer to maintain the most minimal standard level of sanitation. Instead of culling these chickens and cleaning up their mess, yet again corporate interest win out at the end of the day.
