He lives in Houston, doesn't he?

Maybe he's just a Rockets fan. He used to be a Rocket way back.

Sam said something earlier in the summer that TV broadcast revenue from China, Jersey sales etc are shared by all NBA teams. So it is difficult to quantify the 1.3 billion market. Maybe LBJ can sell sneakers, cola, and other merchandise in China, but he's already get lucrative deals for those already. It is just hard to say what that 1.3 billion market means in terms of immediate profits for LBJ.

Kind of off topic, but every time I hear Avery Johnson's voice, I can only think of one thing:

If Lebron makes it known that he wants to come to Houston, Morey can make it happen.

avery like most coaches are basketball purists and watching the Rockets play right now with their roster is probably just makes him smile just like it does us.

I mean if I was a head coach at any level I would be show game film of the Rockets wins and losses to my players.

I would have love to hear what JVG or Hubie Brown would say if EPSN ever picked up one of the Rockets games if they continue to play like this

What does the revenue sharing has to do with Lebron? If he gets a shoe deal with a Chinese company, he doesn't share it with the NBA. If he gets his own commercials in China, he keeps the money. If he goes on a tour in China, that goes into his own pocket...

Lebron will be making some extra cash by virtue of playing on the Rockets. Whether that amount is substantial enough to lure him here, is a different story.

It is a possibility, but I wouldn't bet my money on it.

He has a great chance to become a bigger global presence in Houston, we are a very diverse city, and not to mention the connection to China.

Its funny how people are shocked about praise for the Rockets now lol...I am talking about the Landry for 6th man mention

If we lose part of this current team, no matter how awesome having Lebron would be, I would still be heart broken.

One good reason why LeBron might want to consider Houston --- Daryl Morey.

As a superstar, I would want a GM that knows how to put the right pieces around me. If this year's science experiment turns out successful, I think it could attract some serious talent.

Anywhere that LeBron goes management/coaching are going to get down and kiss his sneakers. The Cavs have done anything they can to surround him with the talent to get back to the Finals.

The only way LeBron would come to Houston is if Yao was playing like Shaq in his prime. With Yao out there's no star power in Houston to make King James think that he's got the pieces he needs to go all the way. I expect LeBron to end up in another franchise where he's paired up with enough firepower to be a legitimate Finals contender.

The Rockets roster is perfect for Lebron.

PG Brooks, good shooter, can create his own shot
SG Battier or Ariza, lock down specialist, can guard quicker players, will take the other team's best perimeter guy and let Lebron rest, good shooters

PF Scola + Landry, both are good jump shooters to space the floor
C Yao, best offensive center in the game, will post up at the beginning of games, but can also shoot the ball to space the floor.

I see how Morey would sell this to Lebron: we have good shooters at every position to space the floor, 2 defensive specialists who will lock up the other guy's best player, the best offensive center in the game and a lightning quick guard that can get their own shot, a proven offensive coach that can get the most out of Lebron's passing and scoring ability.

This team is really tailor made for Lebron James, (it was actually tailor made for Tracy).

Morey has yet to bring us an actual star, yet almost all of his small catches have been big wins. So while he's won the small battles, what kind of great GM would he be if he never brought a star to the team. He's past due. If Morey is in fact the best GM he'll bring this team what it needs to succeed. Next year, if he can do it, he could get Lebron. Shaq doesn't have much longer in this league as Lebron's window in Cleveland is about as short as T-mac's in Houston for a ring. James is going to need a team worthy of his prowess and somehow I don't think the Knicks, the Bulls or LA could be it. I mean, let's face it, a star needs role players, not other stars to play second fiddle to. Lebron would never be caught dead with players better than him. He would however want to work with Yao, the star center of the NBA, and the strongest team players. Period.

I can see it happening actually. We would be instant contenders as soon as he slaps on a jersey. I think if he ever wins here he will be credited with more respect by not taking the loosing rout for more money. Only seven teams have more money to throw around, but from those seven Rockets are the better team. I have heard him give praises to Scola and Brooks in the media before saying positive things about them.
