    Remember the last free agent to tell Cleveland that it wasn't about the money and left for more money?

    So after plowing through this entire thread, essentially I have learned this:

    Regardless of whether or not Lebron James wants to play in Houston or not, we will not be in a position to offer him a contract regardless of Les Alexander's stance on the luxury tax?

    Secondly, for all you posters who believe that James and/or Yao could take pay cuts and to play together, there is absolutely no way the Player's Association will allow it. Lebron James will have to take a max contract. I know the NBA is different than MLB because there is a cap, but I just do not see the PA allowing their main guy (Lebron James) take less money.

    if lebron was more concerned with winning a championship he would come to houston but since it's about money and prestige, he will prolly go to NY to be with JayZ and to play with a bunch of scrubs who will make him look like a god but will end up with a 47-35 record and get bounced out of the 1st round of the playoffs.

    The key issue is Cap room and Lebron's choice. Do we have enough cap room to sign Lebron? is he willing to come to Houston?

    Cap room - quiet frankly, I think we have it don, Morey will do anything to clear space for Lebron.

    Does lebron wants to play for houston? Name me any team in NBA right now has more talent than Houston with their bench players and backup? we are 4-2 right now without Yao and Tmac. Cavs is 4-3 with shaq and lebron. Houston has built a reputation around the league that we are smarter.

    If you were Lebron, where would you go that can guaratnee you a better chance to win a title, a top GM with kin eyes on drafts, a team that is not selfish and play off each other, and a potential market in china with 13 billions people?

    Lebron wants money? sure China. Lebron wants to win? sure Rockets.

    How may teams are out there that can give both winning and money to Lebron right away?

    NY - Lebron doesn't need a big market in US, because he's already a big household name. He needs international recognization.

    LA - did you asked Kobe?

    I remember someone on this forum claimed to have seen Lebron in Las Vegas and asked him if Houston was a possibility in 2010 and Lebron replied "Hell no!" or something to that effect. I highly doubt he will take less $$ or come to Houston when NY is the biggest market and Cleveland is near his hometown.

    I think we have a chance for any big free agent that wants to win. How do you not watch the rockets and not get inspired? It would be nice to have lebron but bosh would be good enough for me.

    Free agents, take less money..join the movement.

    Cap space is the only issue. We have the following advantages.

    * 4th largest city
    * Closer to the title than anyone else
    * Young talented team (Brooks, Ariza, LeBron, Scola, Budinger, Haze, Lowry, Shane-off the bench, and Yao coming back). We would kill in the west. Kobe and Ron are in trouble.
    * Taxes and living are inexpensive
    * Weather - year round
    * Next Dream
    * Half of NBA and NFL live in TX in offseason
    *
    * No championship in NY without a

    Hopefully we show Lebron what we have here as an organization and he's willing to take a HUGE pay cut to join us.

    My guess is while he's not requiring max, what we can offer him is certainly not enough. :(

    I don't believe it. He's going to NY or NJ or staying in Cleveland. What's so great about Rockets that he can't get elsewhere?
    Yao's going to be 30 coming off a major foot surgery. Will he be the same? Will he have the same impact? All questions that will be up in the air until he plays.
    The rest of the Rockets are "ok" but certainly par with what they have going with the Cavs so not much reason to change.

    Incorrect. Our players are much better than what Cleveland has.

    No way Lebron is coming to Houston. If he is considering NYC as a legitimate place to play then its all about the city not the players. If he does goes West it would be with the Lakers...

    Reading this interview with Wade, seems there is a possibility that Wade and LeBron will play together... but what's of real interest is the comment Wade makes about big men... which leads me to believe that both will come to Houston cheap to play with Yao. ;)

    Here's some more from the interview that seems to indicate Wade/LeBron would like the culture in Houston...

    and, we can possibly nab Bosh and Johnson as well...

    Seriously though, I think Wade may be gone...

    Fail. Any time machine-influenced roster posted on this board must first and foremost include prime Dream. To put Orlando Shaq over Championship Dream shows everyone you are lacking the basic knowledge and insight to be a good contributor to this board. You may redeem yourself by acquiring and watching the DVD set of the first championship.
