Yeah. Thats true on that last post. Yao isnt the main attraction though depending on how this team of Yaless guys are shaping up. We would still be the best team many of these guys could go to and have a chance to win it all if these guys get into the playoffs with the current roster. Then they could logically think Amare or Bosh could want tocome here even without Yao think they are the number one guy here on a team that went to the playoffs without Yao. That in itself is tempting seeingas the Rockets are better than most of the teams some of these players are and good enough for their additions to make the Rockets to be better than the team they where on like the Cavs for instance are garbage without Lebron. We arent though. Amares team is garbage without him too but we arent. Joe Johnsons team is a 8th seed and worse without him. Maybe even one of the worst teams in the league without him. These guys here currently besides Yao and Tmac and what they do this season is just as important if not more so by years end to who might consider playing here. How flexible we can be with Yao on his minutes coming back easing the freeagents fears on injuries to Yao or the fact that he could be traded if does well long enough for another center or we draft one. Alot of factors can make this season a prelude to a Championship if done right.

And what better way to do that than become a Chinese fan favorite by joining forces with Ming to win a world championship? Just sayin. There is more to playing with Yoa than his abilities as a player.

Also lebron wants points, not spreading the ball. I don't want a ball stopper here and he doesn't want to be on a team where he'd be asked to pass more. T-mac is a better passer anyways. Keep T-mac.

There is 0 chance Lebron signs with the Rockets. Resigning with Cleveland is much more appealing to begin with

You keep mentioning that you pushed for these moves.

I'm guessing you haven't realized that this BBS isn't Morey's office.

I dont know. I think he knows the Rockets are a way better team with him than Cleveland is. By that logic he might consider we are a Championship team with just him added and not even taking Yao coming back from injury into account. Of course that relies on us winning probably without Yao this season.

You may not realize this but your posts as people have a larger effect on influence than some of you believe. i do not mean he clearly saw my posts or made a direct move off of any of our posts. However collectively what we say as people has an effect on one person that resonates with others if its a good idea. That idea transforms from your mouth to word of mouth and maybe even a post that others start to rationalize as group. That goup turns into a fanbase outcry and movement for. That movement gets to be a rumor and eventually someone gets wind of your ideas sometimes or they already know you aprove of their moves by your backing in the way you talk positively for them and post for them. Its called leadership. Anyway can have this skill by simply standing up in a room and giving their idea. Someone likes it and it becomes something more. It also shows a history of a persons rationale on what he backs that gives them more backing for backing the right ideas. What you say on here can reach to anyone. What you do on Youtube can reach millions. Its just a mentality of knowing what i say matters is the difference between leaders who get heard and those who think they mean nothing in the grand scheme of things or think negatively to shoot ideas down that never happen because they never push for it in the first place so it is impossible in that regard. Which if they never say or do anything is true.

Intereting point you raised re: Yao getting the max or near max... I kinda doubt that Yao's popularity (and thus his worth as Les's investment) can outlive his performance on the basketball floor and his team's success by that much.

Typically, even a real star-caliber guy (look at Iverson) start to lose their fan appeal and contract value if they are perceived as having diminished on the basketball court. Yao might be somewhat of a special case, but I doubt it. It's not like anybody is rushing to sign Wang Zhizhi even though he's playing very well in China and is plenty popular. I especially cannot see Daryl Morey paying anyone more than their skill's worth.

Who know.. we'll see how it all shakes out. Perhaps teams will be rushing to pay Yao even after an injury plague year and thus risking locking themselves into an Elton Brand situation, but it's kind of doubtful.

One more thing: I get the feeling that winning is more important to Yao now than maximizing contract dollars. He has too many other income sources to worry too much about NBA contract dollars and he's 30 years old and have spoken often about how fast his career has been passing by-- and lets not forget that winning helps his marketing appeal, too, so the dollar side of the equation might even work out. If Morey can show that the pay cut he takes definitely gets put to good use on talent, he might just agree.

I'm guessing T-Mac would have to disappear in order for this to happen, would be sick.

It would be a dream comes true if Yao does this for the team.

Also have to trade Battier for an expiring contract in order to open up enough cap room.

I don't know about Lebron, but the way these Rockets are playing, if I were a superstar I'd want to play with these guys.

Actually it can. Yao may be out for the year, but the Rockets are still the team to follow for Chinese fans. I was riding the taxi the day after the Lakers game, and the sports radio in Beijing talked about the game in a purely biased Rockets perspective lamenting the missed opportunities. This despite the fact that Kobe is most popular non-Chinese basketball player in China. The Rockets is like a brand name, one that Yao has basically marketed all over China. And it will remain the team that matters most to Chinese people as long as he's on the team.

This I agree with. And one reason why I don't think it's impossible for Yao to take lesser money. Yao has been making what, $100 mil a year over these past years? It's quite likely that Yao can easily make up the losses from his contract if the Rockets become a title contender through other means. Most players can't, but Yao really is an exception.
