To further split up books and reshuffle the deck, they had him and Wolverine have a pissing match and split up. Wolverine took half and became headmaster at a new pacifist school for mutants, while Cyclops kept the rest on a secluded island to be strike-first fighting types. Xavier seems to be in retirement. Oh, and the Hellfire Club is now run by Middle School kids. I tried to read the last comic about the split and the first for Wolverine's school. They were worse than garbage. Literally worse than if fanfiction had taken over. Artwork, story, writing, everything. Awful. The Whedon run was tight. This is a crying shame.
I'm not much of a comic book reader, but is there anything I should read before this comes out? I like reading comics I just don't have the time to go to a store, so I generally buy them online.
I miss the good old Xavier xmen from like the first xmen cartoon. Too many new teams and allegiance changes for a casual guy that just wants the xmen to beat magnetos crew and have wolverine Stab ppl left and right while using one liners.
They seriously did that to Cyclops? He was basically the Boy Scout Captain America of the X-men Amazing. I wonder what they have as his motivation for the extreme change . . .then again they have him or had him dating Emma Frost . . so . . . wow. . i have not read them in so long . . . seems like i have good reason not too Rocket River
Here is the problem with American comics, they don't end, and when a good writer gets tired of the material, they bring in some one else in that screws it up. Runaways by Brian K Vaughn made me read American comic again for the first time in a long time, but it's been garbage since he left (including Whedon's run surprisingly). Astonishing X-Men was good for a while and than bleh after Whedon left but since it was a commercial success, they keep it going. I'm pretty much done with following any major "series" since they really don't have any continuity anyways and rather just read story arcs of a couple of writers whose books I've know are quality (and I'm willing to throw money at) or stories where the run actually is started and ended by the original author.
Totally agreed. They should end the series and give us fans a closure instead of dragging it with bs storyline that is force to be told.Every time I see issue #698 or something x men, spiderman, dare devil, batman, and etc on the comic stand, I just ignore it and go for the new series that I can start from issue 1 and so on. Or reboot the series with modern day story line for ex the new tmnt series which is only 7 issues in if anyone want to catch up. Same concept but different origin story from the comic, movie, and cartoon series. And I have to say it's pretty bad a** so far. Check out the new general krang android body Underneath the jacket krang is visible from the neck.
A vs X comes out tomorrow or for some comic book shops like bedrock, they are having 8pm early release party today with raffle tickets to win #1 variants cover. Got these babies last week. I have issue # 0 and # 1 retail variant. Was lucky to get a hold of # 1 retail variant for $20 on ebay. When everybody else is selling it for over $100 They also have the prequel to the story # 1-4
COACH- You forgot the D20 in the first pic to solidify your alpha geek cred. The motherboard is a nice touch, though. (Honestly, I'm a little jealous. The lure of variants is a strong one.)
Wait until you see my comic cards collection from the 90's. My lucky friend came back with these covers from the early release party
