Have a question, it got me thinking after getting rear-ended in Dallas on the weekend (covered by card thankfully). I'm in the same "household" as my sister, I was on my sister and brother in-law's Geico auto insurance and my old vehicle (now sold). I moved to Australia in January and my insurance was subsequently cancelled.. or my name removed from the auto policy. So the question is, do I need to get on their insurance (obviously I'll pay the diff) if I drive her car regularly when I come to Houston (have a few trips this year) or can I take out my own insurance and get the car & myself covered? My address is still the same address as my sister's house - so I'd be a "household" member. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
My understanding is as long as you have their premission to drive their car. You should be covered by their insurance. Might want to check with their insurance company to make sure.
Thanks - yeah will try give them a call. Trying to figure out if I need to be listed on their insurance policy if I am a "household" member to get covered on the car. It would make sense if my address might be different and not regularly use the car.
