I don't care to debate what Rivers quote meant or didn't mean ....

IMHO ... I know we're in tank mode and Silas is being paid to lose BUT to say that he's not part of the problem is asinine! You can guide the ship to the lottery and at the same time teach and have a resemblance of structure! The Silver lining at the end of the tunnel is that Silas WILL Be gone soon! You can take it to the bank!!

    Go Rockets!!!

Who would have thought Austin Rivers would be the voice of reason?

Like I said elsewhere..... the FO decided to get the Hinkie total rebuild route which was void of vets. Based on the evidence and what I am seeing today, player development is secondary to creating the conditions to be the worst.

I have two checkpoints to where I feel like it's time to start evaluating in earnest, which are after the mid season trade deadline and the offseason.

I promise you he would be better than Stephen Silas.

Yeah but Jalen is at the bottom (while playing with all other 19 and 20 years olds and almost ZERO discernable PG play) of defensive metrics and should be a 6th man.

Just ignore the fact that Devin Booker, Darius Garland, Andrew Wiggins, Trae Young, Bradley Beal etc etc etc etc have all been at the bottom as well. But Jalen Green is worthless and should come off the bench. While the only players that have more 30 & 40 point games than him that were under the age of 21 are hall of famers.

I have seen bad opinions on this site before this one though may really top all of them.

if harden came to houston next year and we draft wemby and proceeded to go from worst record in the league to a 55 win team, would harden win the mvp

True, but his point about a credible vet setting the right example is still correct to some extent, I guess.

But I think Gordon at least is professional - a vet showing what needs to be done is one thing, but if the kids (KPJ and, influenced by him, Jalen and maybe JC) aren't willing to listen because they think they "are already there", and there is no coaching staff to hold them accountable either - that's how you end up with where we are now.

And all that starts with the coaching staff and KPJ, the "head honcho".

If we want to save Jalen Green's career, we need a new coaching staff and KPJ needs to go.

I'm not sure KPJ needs to go yet. There hasn't been a coach willing to hold him accountable. Get that coach and if he still won't be held accountable then ship him out. Why should KPJ change if the coach isn't telling him he is doing anything wrong?

There is a small chance that you might be right, but he is 22 now, he has been given plenty of chances, he said he changed his ways, but I lack the belief that he really has. He shouldn't need a coach to have to tell him that he needs to be on time for practice and not be a dick to staff. Most importantly though, I don't think he will accept playing off ball. He thinks he is the head honcho. That's the core of the problem.

You could try with a new coach, move him to 6th man, strictly hold him accountable - but the risk then is that once he does something really stupid again and throws a hissy fit, his trade value would be even lower than what it is now and you might have no choice but to cut him.
