Yeah, Luther Head averaged 8.8 points on .403 shooting and .361 from the 3-point line in his rookie year. I think Rivers would love to have those numbers right now. Rivers might be more like future Adam Morrison?
I'm on record having said that I was on board to pick Austin with the 14th pick. Harden is doing what I thought Rivers had a semblance of doing: An aggressive 2 guard who can beat his man off the dribble and score. I didn't think Lamb would fall to us and then domino into Harden.
Well to be quite honest I'm surprised Rivers has sucked so much, I thought for sure he'd be an OJ Mayo clone. I dunno what when wrong with him, Rivers was born being coached by Doc and went to a really good university with one of the best college coaches. Duke players aren't that athletic but usually go into the NBA with a lot of skills/intangibles. For some reason Rivers has none of that, ft% to me is the biggest sign he didn't work on his game because having low FT for a freaking guard is downright embarrassing, I could shoot fts better than him at this point. Maybe all the pressure went into his head and he's now a mental midget.
Expectations I'm sure he's feeling and putting a lot of pressure on himself. He just needs some time to grow Relatively few come out from college and make a huge impact immediately
I think he's a good reclamation project. Whatever other issues he has, he can somehow get to the rim, a skill the Rockets highly desire. But would not give NO anything beyond 2nd round pick(s) or one of our Euro-stash.
You don't develop reclamation projects on a team that's going all-in for a championship. If Jones and DMo can't get off the bench despite having some strong positive aspects to their game...
In order to develop those skills, he would have to get playing time. On this team, he belongs nowhere near the court anytime soon, and he's certainly not worth a roster spot when you have guys like Aaron Brooks and Terrence Jones at the end of the bench.
No way. He would have been found out as a scrub. He had a lot of hype after hitting that game winning shot. It was smart to ride that one shot into a good first contract.
