Takeovers are the lamest thing ever. Idiots going to ruin car meet ups for everyone with their sub prime loans.
I mean what’s the difference between that and drag racing in the 90s-2000s? It’s all the same thing. Rebellions teens is common in every generation.
****ing dumbass. Glad that cop got his ass. Takeovers are stupid, not even remotely the same as the street races on a closed street where no one is. Rankin was nothing like that. These jackasses are taking over intersections and all deserve to be shot
These street takeover things seemed to be big a few summers ago. A bystander died in one in Minneapolis when they got hit by a car doing donuts in an intersection a couple of years ago. Besides these things being a pain in the ass for anyone not involved in them they are dangerous and am all for cracking down on them. In MN anyone charged in street racing or for doing things like donuts in an intersection can be considered as using a deadly weapon.
We used to race in Southeast Houston not far from Hobby Airport back in the '60's. Some developer had platted and built some residential streets, several square blocks, with curbs and gutters, sidewalks, the whole 9 yards, Apparently his financing fell through at that point, or the housing market cratered and he decided to wait to build the homes or apartments. Whatever was planned. Beats me, but it was perfect for drag racing. We had someone at the far end of a few blocks who would flash his lights with the all clear from that end and a friend would do a quick countdown with his hand up between the cars, then yank his arm down and off we'd go. It was a gas. It was like that for over a year. Always raced late at night, though. Those people in Atlanta are insane. Glad the cop caught that guy, although I imagine he wasn't the only one involved. Sure hope whoever was hit isn't badly injured. It'll be a miracle if he or she isn't.
