For you out-of-towners...could be the best weather for an ACL ever...

Friday - Partly cloudy, high of 81 w/ a north wind (F***ING AWESOME)

Saturday & Sunday - Highs in the mid 70's with a 50% chance of scattered showers

If the rain holds off (or at least doesn't make it a washout) and the temps stay there, I'm going to end up dringking a lto.

(on Sat and Sun only as I'll have the kids on Friday)

Dang! That more than anything makes me sad I didn't get the usual free tickets this year. My Irish complexion does not usually allow me to fully enjoy festivals. The Free Press Summer Fest definitely tested my patience in terms of sunburn and patience this year, as ACL often has in the past.

What he said :) Seriously though, I had a conversation with a friend about solo activities (not that kind of solo activity you pervs) and it's definitely not for everyone. I went tubing by myself once this summer and it was one of the funnest floats I've had. Met a little hottie teacher....good times.

I dig the hot weather, but it will be interesting. There is only a 20% chance of rain tomorrow, but Sat and Sun are 60% and 40% respectively.

Most fun I've ever had at a professional baseball game was this season at a Round Rock Express game by my self. I'm typically with my now 4-yr old who has no interest in watching the game, wants to spend the whole time at the playarea, and is allergic to peanuts. I went by my self and actually got to watch an entire baseball game while eating a whole bag of peanuts. It was very nice.

I guess I'm going to have to brave this one alone. :( I'll let you guys know how it is to be "that guy." I'm still really excited about the concert though.

My little sister and a friend have a band called Heaven for Betsy. They have their first show tonight at 8 at the Carosel Lounge in Austin on 52nd St. No cover. You can bring your own liquor but theres a cash-only bar for beer. Its very jazzy. Good stuff.

there was a band in the 90's called heavens to betsy. so many bands, its getting really difficult to come up w/ an original name or one that hasnt already been used. love the carousel lounge though!

'are the hot' - haha - it doesnt hurt.

there is definitely a double standard in that respect - i was watching a band at pecan st. festival last weekend who shall remain nameless and they were just absolutely awful - trying way to hard to be avant-garde/experimental, but it just comes out awkward and lame - but its 4 cute girls so people seemed to be into it or at least not hating it. if it was 4 dudes making the same racket people would boo them off the stage and probably throw things at them.

i stood outside stubbs for a couple tunes - sounded good, but they have really soundproofed stubbs and blocked it in so it wasnt very loud. you used to be able to sit on the other side of waller creek and see the stage and hear everything pretty good. all those condos have forced places like stubbs to reign in the sound.

anyway, i ran into some friends afterwards who were blown away - said it was way better than they expected. made me sorry i missed it.

Bing a poncho. it's going to be a nasty day. Quite a contrast from the low-80's and sun that we had yesterday...possibly the best weather day in the 8 years of ACL.

Musically, I missed some things due to having 2 kids with me, but what I saw was very good. My favorite of the day was probably Dr. Dog. They put on a very good set. MMW was solid as ever, but they, to me, were limited by the time slot. They should be at sundown as they were the last time they played ACL. John Legend was very good. Raphael Saadiq was a bit more rockin than I expected from the former Tony Toni Tone member. Blitzen Trapper was a nice surprise, too. I hadn't heard much of them, but I will be checking them out more now.

Today, aside from the weather, should be a great day...

They showed a shot of a reporter yesterday at the field where it will be....all nice green grass.....

That place is going to look like a quagmire.....90% chance of rain today and tomorrow.....

    Dang it.

Oh man, sucks about the rain. Sucks even more that the 2 shows I'm going to at Emo's and Stubb's are both outdoors. Blah. Hopefully it's not too bad.

    What a day yesterday...

Ended up getting scammed. Ticket didn't work at the gate, wasted $250 on a 3-day pass, and I thought I took all the precautions to not get scammed but this guy was smart (from craigslist).

Ended up getting extremely lucky, found a guy who worked for Front Gate tickets, sold me and my friend 2 3-day passes for face value $150 only 20 minutes after I thought I was going to have to drive back to Houston...

Bassnectar, Thievary Corporation, and Kings of Leon all amazing.
