It is true. They even tried the 'lost pet' approach on some adults (a pet rabbit... ) on the same day a block away. http://www.circlecranch.info/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1129
Georgia plates... looks like from additional descriptions on the homeowners board they probably wandered in the back of Circle C off of state hwy 45.
i could not agree with you more on that one. you'd think the designers in austin couldn't possibly have civil engineering degrees. it's sad, really...
This is exactly who I've always blamed for the entrance ramps to 35, north of campus. "Here's your 10-foot-long, blind merge entrance lane, sucka."
...and opened up yet another swath of land to endless development --- more strip malls, more tract housing, and believe it or not in another 5-10 years...more traffic. So yeah, its awesome if you're a big fan of the continued expansion of suburbia (See Hardy Toll Road, Houston TX). On the bright side that'll mean a spike in sales for yellow ribbons on SUV's and "Keep Austin Weird" bumper stickers --- because those are two things the Roundrock crowd can't get enough of.
More on the incident in Circle C - This is pretty danged scary stuff. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hello Ladies, (Sent to my wife) Please read all of this carefully. It is real and has happened this week. Connor's friend had a very scary incident on Tuesday after school on South Bay. To back up a moment, her mother was at home before her daughter got off the bus. There was a knock on her door and she opened it to a guy dressed in all black. He claimed to be looking for a lost dog and told her he was a neighbor on Pebble Garden Court, which is across the street from them. They live on Pebble Garden. One of her neighbors on Pebble Garden Court was walking across the street at that point and the mother introduced the guy in all black as a neighbor and the neighbor that Robin knows did not know this guy. She then said goodbye, thought the incident was weird, but was not threatened by him. Connor's friend then came home from school off the bus. Several girls get off at that stop and cut through this girl's backyard to go home on the cul de sac that backs up to their backyard. Connor's friend decided she wanted to walk their dog and the mother let her go. She headed up Pebble Garden to South Bay towards Escarpment. It appears that the guy who knocked at Robin's door stopped Haley to pet the dog. A white van with very tinted windows (illegal looking tinted windows) was parked on South Bay. Connor's friend felt the guy who stopped to pet her dog was inching her towards the van as he said, "Here comes the owner of that van. You should be careful because there are some people wanted for armed robbery." (I not 100% on exactly what was said, but this is basically it). At that point a father and child from the neighborhood was walking and stopped to pet the dog. This gave Haley the opportunity she needed to run. The father and kid left and Haley started running towards home. The van started chasing her down South Bay and yelling out the window. It appears that these two guys were together, but it is uncertain. The next day (Wednesday), another guy knocks on Robin's door and she sent him away telling him she wasn't interested. He seemed irritated with her. When Haley came home she asked Haley for a description of the driver of the van. It seems that this was the guy that knocked on Robin's door on Wednesday. Another neighbor on Pebble Garden Court was approached also by what seems a third man from the description. Two other children on Readvill Lane down by Back Bay saw a van before Thanksgiving. Robin is not sure that it is the same van. They did get a license number. A boy in Circle C West was also approached by the same white van. I am not sure on which day. The boy was getting off the bus and was in his garage when they yelled to him from the van, "Hey boy." He immediately closed the garage door. Also, two friends of mine were walking one morning this week after the kids went to school. I am not sure which day. I spoke with one of them briefly this morning. Some men in a white van approached them parked on Escarpment by Aden Lane. She didn't notice the tinted windows or the whether the plates were from Georgia. Brenda said they presented themselves as surveyors and claimed to have found a bunny, which they thought might be someone's pet and they were dressed in blue uniforms. They never saw the bunny and Mary told them to take it to Town Lake Animal Shelter. They didn't seem sincere about the bunny. That's all I have so far. From The Mother Herself, Hi, The story has grown somewhat, however the serious of it is real. There has been a police report filed. We encountered the men and van again today. We are pursuing this father up the chain. We do not know the intent of the men, but their actions were threatening. My daughter was chased, but no one grabbed her. She was walking on South Bay by Pebble Garden with a yellow lab. The opportunity to take her may have been foiled by a man walking with his daughter who stopped to pet our dog. This gave my daughter the opportunity she needed. If the person who stopped to pet our dog reads this, please contact me so we can get more nformation. Feel free to forward this to whomever you want. Notes: The homeowner's association and police should be notified if you notice this van and take the license plate number. Remember, they can easily change plates, so look for anything suspicious. They were driving a white van (fairly new, a shuttle looking van, maybe a 10 seater) and it had Georgia license plates. They were white and in their 20s. It seems there may be three individuals involved. The police have not been very helpful. So everyone needs to get involved if something happens with you. The weird thing about this is it seems they may have been hanging out since before Thanksgiving, depending on the description of the van from Readvill Lane and BackBay. I'll let you know if I hear anything else. Be careful, lock you house and garage and watch your kids and make them aware of what is happening. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sounds like we have some bad guys roaming around trying to get up to no good, hopefully they will catch em. DD
I hope you are kidding. Circle C is one of the best neighborhoods in Austin, with a VERY VERY low crime rate. And this could be a misunderstanding. Apparently the white van guys are either: A. Surveyors B. Bad guys pretending to be surveyors If it is A, then it could be a blown up misunderstanding. If B, then it is good that information like this is shared. Circle C is a great place to live and to raise a family. DD
Man those things sucked. When I lived in Austin I couldn't believe that a freeway was actually built like that.
