COD5 will probably disappoint following the greatness that is is COD4...
At this point I believe that Gears of War will be a better pickup (even though they are completely different types of shooters, they target the same type of audience)
    <br>
However, if you have a PS3, COD5 should be taken a good look at

Did you mean COD5 as in World at War (coming out this year), or the next COD game from Infinity Ward (likely next year)? Not that it would affect my answer, but I'm curious.

I was talking about World at War. I love the WWII titles as much as the next guy, but seriously give it a rest for a few while. Its a subject that has been beaten to death...
After Modern Warfare, they should have stuck with the "modern" genre for at least the next one or two releases, then gone back to WWII if they deemed it fit.

    but ehhhh, just my opinion...

I was directing my question towards JD2010. Sorry I didn't make that clear.

I do agree though. That's partly why I'm not interested in COD5. Activision is more concerned with getting a new COD game released every holiday season rather than actually making sure it is a great game (although I'm sure they'd try both if possible). Not going to get my money with that attitude.

I already played it, and I thought Resistance was much better. COD4 was far from great IMO, but I know others feel differently.

If I do get a COD game though, it will be by Infinity Ward. I didn't like their game, but I did respect them as developers.

Story mode is a different story from the online play of COD4.

Did you play story mode only or online as well?

Exactly, the online play of COD4 is unmatched IMO

But CoD4 is still better even in its SP campaign than Resistance

I don't usually play online games, but even then, I'd probably prefer something like Warhawk to COD4.

I judge all games by their SP campaigns. COD4's campaign pretty much sucked IMO. It had some good points, but it was IMO relatively uninteresting and finished in 4-5 hours (and I had no desire to replay it). Not even sure why they bothered to have it to be honest, although I guess it is like other games that throw in a crappy online mode just to have it.

    RC Cola,
your big fault here as the video game expert is that you don't play multi-player games online, you prefer the one player.

COD4 is the #1/2 game online for either platform for a good reason.

That's good for COD4 and its fans, but I couldn't care less.

if RC was reviewing Street Fighter 2,

he would give it a 2/5 stars cause he thought Blanka and Ken's ending was stupid.

he would give counterstrike a 0/5 stars cause the bots are dumb and the story is the same every single round.

And that's a problem with the game industry today...there so damn focused on creating online content at times that they create a weak single player campaign. Some people, myself included, like to be immersed in a great story. And another thing that irks me is split screen multiplayer is becoming all but extinct. Some people actually like to "physically" get together with friends and play games.

the great story part is why they made the bluray or dvd drives and the online video store.

who plays one player games? hell even back in the day, someone would play you at champion edition streetfighter. hell, daytona linked up like 6 players.

look at quake or counterstrike. when they have quakecon do they talk about how good the story is? no. they talk about skill and teamwork.

you need to start a poll.

what type of video games are you interested in?

    online
    single player
    both

Believe it or not there are many people who play games for the single player experience. I probably wouldn't have become so enamored with Halo's online multiplayer if I didn't love the campaigns so much. And the Metal Gear franchise has one of the best ongoing stories I've ever experienced in a game (though a bit convoluted at times). Metroid, Zelda, Tomb Raider, Half Life, BioSchock, Prince of Persia...I could go on and on. That's not to say I don't like online content...but it's not the reason I buy games. The ONLY exception to that was Battlefield 2...I bought it after playing the online demo; and you know what I was disappointed with it because the story mode paled in comparison to multiplayer.

Everything has to have multiplayer now to survive. its crucial.

Even GTA4 which is a solid 1 player game has multiplayer.
Look at the racing games, they all need multiplayer or else they won't sell.
    RTS..multiplayer
Fighting games - SoulCalibur 4, SF, Mortal Kombat.. they all have online now

Even RPGs, the most successful one is WoW, and that's all multiplayer
