PC American McGee Presents: Bad Day L.A. (Modern Action Adventure) 8/29 Xbox 360: Dead Rising (Fantasy Shooter) 8/8 [Official Thread Here] Ninety-Nine Nights (Fantasy Action Adventure) 8/15 Saints Row (Modern Shooter) 8/29 Enchanted Arms (RPG) 8/29 PS2 Final Fantasy 7: Dirge of Cerberus (Fantasy Action Adventure) 8/15 Xenosaga Episode 3 (RPG) 8/29 Disgaea 2: Cursed Memories (Strategy RPG) 8/29 PSP: Def Jam: Fight for NY: The Takeover (Wrestling) 8/29 (hopefully it doesn’t get delayed again) Mercury Meltdown (Puzzle) 8/29 DS: Star Fox Command (Sci-Fi Shooter) 8/28 Multi: Super Monkey Ball Adventure (3D Platformer) [GC, PS2, PSP] 8/1 Flatout 2 (Demolition Derby) [XBX, PC, PS2] 8/1 Madden 07 (Football Sim) [Every system, although PS3 and Wii have to wait] 8/22 Note that there are several games coming out that I’m not that familiar with, especially on the PC. Of course, if any of them get good scores, I’ll make sure to post about them later. There are also a lot of games listed as “August 2006” or “Q3 2006” that I didn’t list (although I probably wouldn’t have done so anyway for most of them). Good month for the 360 and PS2 to a lesser degree (RPG gamer madness). Kind of weak otherwise, especially with everything coming out on the 28th or 29th.

Hopefully it turns out to be better than what I've read about it. It seems like most impressions I've read about from the Japanese release and the demo were really negative.
What kind of games do you like? Some nice games game that you might want to check out are TESIV: Oblivion (duh), Heroes of Might and Magic V, Prey, Titan Quest (think I forgot to post about this game in one of these threads), Dreamfall: The Longest Journey, LOTR 2: BFME, and The Movies. Of course, if you haven't checked out Half-Life 2 or the Episode One expansion, I'd recommend that too. There's also Cave Story, a fun game with an oldschool-feel that is free to play. Some of the other guys might be able to give better recommendations. I don't play PC games as much as I should.
i hope so too. i'll finally have some real live competition since my roommate's a fanatic and i'll be going online for the first time.
I just need for August to be over because on Sept. 5th I believe Ubisoft is releasing Call of Juarez. I like the idea of western shooters. Some definitely fall short, and just make me mad. But the few that work are a real blast. The best of all times was LucasArts Outlaws. Gun is probably number 2, but it was just too short.
I had one of the demo discs that were out a few weeks ago for Saints Row and came away very impressed. The only real question mark is the story/plot. Other than that; SR came across as GTA:San Andreas with better graphics, customization and physics. We'll see how the final game turns out.
Man, I rented this the other day for the 360 and wasn't impressed at all. I was actually very bored after a couple of levels. I mean, some of the things you experience and come across are cool, but the actual gameplay bored me to tears and the gravity crap was really confusing at times.
I think it was one of those love it or hate it games (it did get decent reviews though). I thought it was solid (at least from the demo...although I later found out from reviews that the full version was really short), but I could see how others might think differently...in fact, I've seen people think differently (not just you). It is a game worth checking out though, at least IMO (a lot of different gameplay elements introduced). Since there is a demo available, I would recommend checking that out first before buying it of course.
Disgaea 2 looks really neat, I've been on a Final Fantasy Tactics trip lately, this looks like it would be a nice addition to my small PS2 library (though I still need to get around to finishing MGS3 and Dragon QuestVIII.) It looks like you actually control your character and go from town to town and talk to people ala Shining Force rather than in FFT were you just pop between different battles. Do you know if this is the case RC?
I own the first Disgaea. You don't really go from town to town, at least not in the first one. There was only your castle (you played a demon prince in the Netherworld), which had some people/demons to talk to, although they usually didn't say anything important. Other than some small things like that, it was more like FFT, making you go from battle to battle to progress the story. I'd definitely recommend it though if you liked FFT. Disgaea is incredibly addicting once you get the hang of it (trying to get all the classes; leveling up your weapons and armor; getting you characters to levels in the 1000s ). The story is more lighthearted than other games, making for some pretty funny moments (including a Power Rangers reference). Nippon Ichi probably does make the best SRPGs since FFT, so you can't really go wrong with a game from them (especially one of their bigger titles). I was mostly referring to the original Disgaea in this post, but judging from the previews, it sounds like the sequel is similar in a lot of ways (can't fix what's not broken). I imagine a lot of the things I said for the original can also be said for the sequel. Here are some impressions from a thread at NeoGAF on the Japanese version of the game (includes some spoilers, which should be blacked out): http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=87468
