yeah, he proved he's still got things to work out before being signed to a long term deal and actually staying on the floor consistently..

Really, how many 2nd round picks come into the NBA and make an immediate impact....

Because this team is in WIN NOW mode.

Look, usually I am all about the future, but I think the future is NOW....

This team is close, Taylor will not help them get there....at least not for a couple of years and maybe never.

Von....well he was instant offense THIS YEAR in the NBA.....the N B A......not Conference USA....

Why is a box of hammers dumb? Selling in bulk to contractors might be a smart business model.

Exactly lol. I wouldn't judge his IQ, and especially his BB IQ based on that short clip. Aaron Brooks sounds very articulate in interviews, while Tmac says the dumbest things in interviews but on the court it's the exact opposite.

At this exact moment, Von Wafer is better than Taylor.

Von Wafer had huge nights, huge shots in the NBA that cannot go unnoticed since he has joined the Rockets organization.

I don't feel like listing his contributions to the team when Yao/TMac/Ron were having injury problems. So I'll just leave it at this.

Keeping Von Wafer is the logical thing to do. Anything you invest into young kids might come out as a mis-fire, so saying that this Taylor kid is better than Wafer is stupid in my point of view.

Before y'all start talking to death about some rookie, give some thought about how good our current roster is.

My guess is, I'd keep Von Wafer around bay just to see if other teams are interested. Sign-and-trade for Von Wafer + some other players for either a strong back-up C and/or a vetern/proven player at the 2-spot.

Otherwise, keep him. We'll need his fire off the bench if any of our starters get injured.

It's more complicated than that though. Depending on how much Wafer wants, signing could cost us the ability to sign Artest. In the end it could come down to Artest + Rookies or Wafer + Rookies.

DD I just wonder, why would you want Rubio if you think we are in WIN NOW mode?

    Keep both?

    Anyways...

Morey was asked about Von and Taylor. He said Von's explosiveness is high in the league, but they think Taylor has a better overall game.

They weren't able to get into the first round, so they decided to pick up some assets. People said drafting Donte Green wouldn't help us win now.

He was a great ASSET, even though he was not an NBA ready player. We traded that asset for Artest.

If there are no "Win Now" players available, then you get great assets. They can be traded for something even better, or used later. They could have bought no picks, but they must have seen something in these players to spend $2-3 million to buy each pick.

It's Christmas morning and DaDa didn't wake up to find a pony.

It's just the draft dude, and we didn't even have a pick much less a lotto.
We did fine, these 3 guys have some potential. There is no downside to this Rockets draft.

Because I think a VERY talented player is worth a shot, whereas most 2nd rounders are utter gambles and few pan out.....

No true, I agree with that, I am just smarting from a lackluster offseason, where our competitors got better for peanuts and we got 3 maybes ...

I agree getting 3 picks when we had none was great, asset wise, but I am HUGELY dissappointed in the offseason to date.

Couldn't agree more. I really hope we aren't seriously depending on TMac. If that is Morey's thinking we missed a real opportunity because teams were dealing.

I probably don't want to know what deals we turned down. I might not be able to handle it if I knew we turned down a potentially good offer thinking we could get better or that TMac was worth more.

Agree completely. I'm not criticizing Morey because I think he is a great GM and if there were a deal to be made I think he would have done it. I think the draft moves were all very good.

That said, I think we have fallen back instead of taking a step forward. As currently constructed, I could easily see us finishing 6-8 in the playoff standings next year.

THere were 2 SG/SF's that fit perfectly available...Carter and Jefferson.....and we got neither....and the offers for them were a joke.....

I have been pining for Carter for awhile now.
