There is need fpr Huff. We cannot have two players with very poor plate discipline in Lane and Preston in the lineup compounded with the presence of folks like Ausmus, Everret and WillyT. We need a Huff to slap the ball, sac fly and improve our situational hitting. Lane was atrocious when it came to situation hitting. Lane's value as a player is grossly overrated at least offensively (even with his "stupid" power).
I'm assuming if this trade does indeed go down, either taveras or lane will be shipped to some other team.
Word of advice, never deal with the DBacks, they'll ask for the moom for average players. Also this site sucks.
Yea but they got a new owner and fired their nutty GM Chuck LaMarr who was just trying to rip people off left and right. So no one really knows what their new GM thinks and how he will work out.
This is exactly what I thought when I read this thread. It seems the Astros are getting more to bargin with concerning Tejada. What if they could work out the original deal. Lane, Adam E., and Lidge for Tejeda (maybe even through in a prospect). Then have .. Biggio Tavares Tejeda Berkman Huff Ensberg Wilson Ausmus That would be nice.
management is different, but their philosophy is still the same. They wanted top prospects for Julio Lugo, which is the reason the Red Sox didn't get him for ss. Also, they have no use for Joey Gathwright, and have been unable to deal him away due to their unreasonable demands. Also, the mets could not agree on a deal for Dany Baez, the DBacks are just tough to deal with.
im sure you have meant to say d-rays all along., but just pointing out its not the d-backs that have those players.
I know this is dreamcasting but Ensberg will bat ahead of Aubrey should such a sceenario present itself. Also Aubrey is a lefty IIRC. Moving Aubrey to the 2-hole to bat behind WillyT (a hopefully improved WillyT) or Bigde might make a lot of sense since he has good bat control.
I'm a big Bags fan, but this sucks. Stupid ego. He's gonna get his $17 mil no matter what happens. But I'm betting he sure isnt going to earn it playing baseball.
Apparently Bagwell has said told the Astros to trade him, if they could. I bring this up only because Hunsicker? is now in Tampa. Bagwell can hit, but he can't throw the ball. If the Astros would eat some of his contract, then it wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility to trade him to an American league team to use as a DH. Might not have any legs at all, but just thinking.
I don't believe that for a second. Even if he did, he is untradable due to his contract. There isn't a team in the MLB that will take that chance. Hell, the Astros have him and they don't want to risk it.
