My friend car was hit by a 18 wheeler running a red light and is in a lot of pain. His car is totaled. I have see ads from Jim Adler and Steve Lee. Are they any good? Is there any attorney ya recommend?

Probably best to not get a lawyer who advertises during Maury.

The Hammer! Jim Adler! He even has a commercial where he is on top of an eighteen wheeler.

Whatever he does, be sure to tell him not to accept any money or sign any documents from the truck company's insurance unless he knows exactly what the money is for and what he's signing.

I was duped into settling for $300 after an accident with an 18 wheeler back in 08. Granted, it was my fault for being hasty and not performing due diligence. But their tactics were shady at best.

I work for a company that develops software in the trucking industry. Word of advice to you and your lawyers. Find out if the truck was using an EOBR (electronic on board recorder). My company develops various software solutions for trucks that record vehicle data.

If the truck had an EOBR, you can get every conceivable data point of the truck before and after the accident. You can craft a pretty good picture of what the driver was doing or how reckless he or she was before the accident. The driver and his/her company can bull**** all the want but if you get the truck recordings, you'll have hard evidence to back it up. Whenever I see these cases, 9 times out of 10 you can craft data points to demonstrate how unsafe the driver was.

You can also try and get hold of the driver's log sheets to see if he/she was compliant with DOT hours of service at the time of the accident. If the driver wasn't, then its pretty much a slam dunk case for you. Plus the DOT will then proceed to rake the company and driver over coals for failing to follow hours of service regulations.

Get a good lawyer and find someone who understands the trucking industry and its rules. You can absolutely get a huge settlement/award from the trucking company for this.

If you have any questions about trucking regulations, feel free to message me through the board. I hate it when trucking companies just prey on the ignorance of average people. Federal and state laws on trucking are extremely harsh and its up to every victim to make sure that the company is punished to the fullest extent as a deterrent. Do not settle with them until you do your research. Once the trucking company figures out that you aren't an ignorant chump, they'll start to make respectable settlement offers.

They saw me coming. Of course they gave me the value of my car after it was totaled. But that wreck was a huge set back for me... Should've let my dad tag along like he wanted to. But when you're 22 and "independent" you gotta learn some things the hard way.

Lawyers are right next to tow trucks and mechanics when it comes to honesty and integrity.
