On my commute back from work, both stations were playing that ****ing "Ay Baby" song AT THE SAME TIME For the record, I have Sirius, but my radio is busted and I'm waiting for Sirius to send me a new one. Until then, I have to suffer through local radio
If you want cutting edge, listen to the mash up artists The Hood Internet from Chicago. They mix indie rock with rap. Its really good. Some examples: http://www.zshare.net/audio/2382027064f64e/ -DJ Khaled with Junior Boys http://www.zshare.net/audio/169044294d5b82/- R. Kelly with Broken Social Scene http://www.zshare.net/audio/252886224cf19a/- Rick Ross with Ghosthustler http://www.zshare.net/audio/20174057b7e2c9/- Mike Jones with Air http://www.zshare.net/audio/2095624d21fb7e/- Lil Flip with New Pornographers more tracks on: http://thehoodinternet.com/ They release all their tracks for free, and one day you will be hearing them with the likes of Danger Mouse and Girl Talk.
I love this song, Just don't like the fact he sampled Daft Punk. I wouldn't other artists using my material.
Been saying (to myself) for a few years that if some hip hop artists could experiment enough and work in some mild techno sounds it'd make for some interesting songs. Breakbeat & house music (thats not gay ) is all about BEATS and RHYTHMS, and some have rap samples in them. Would think itd naturally work its way into hip hop more but its never really been the case...But then this is freakin Daft Punk here, who's sample is also used in Busta Rhyme's "Touch It" (now tell me that track wasnt straight FIRE when it came out) Never ever RELY on radio for personal & particular music tastes. They only owe their advertisers & major record companies that peddle music to them something. The listeners interests come second & some probably feel they dont owe us at all...Yes some stations and hosts do care but they're not gonna break format to show that care.
Just what I mentioned in my last message, or meant to say. Mashups with hip hop and other forms of music blended in, except making ORIGINAL songs with the music blends. It probably appeals mostly to white kids and wont catch on that much with the "real hip hop" black listeners, but at least its helps break format
BTW If you guys haven't checked out T.I.'s new album T.I. vs T.I.P. which came out today I think, it's really good. Nice beats throughout the whole thing. <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/DOU3HHoMJIk"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/DOU3HHoMJIk" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object> 2nd single "You Know What It Is"
The rap they play on the radio is mostly the songs playing in the clubs and thats all its good for. When I go to a club I dont want to hear Devin the Dude but when im at home thats exactly what im in the mood for. Theres enough rap out there to fit anyones style but if you are looking to find it on the radio then you are in trouble.
didnt think itd get worse than whats been mentioned, but there's always a contender out there.. This has got to be THE WORST radio rap song EVER "Crank Dat Soulja Boy" <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/fUP1RqnpGYA"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/fUP1RqnpGYA" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>
I was on the computer when I heard this song playing on the TV behind me: Mat Kearney - Undeniable http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ldNS4lTzOFU <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/ldNS4lTzOFU"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/ldNS4lTzOFU" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object> At first I thought it was a new rap song, but it turns it be.....well I don't know....but this guy is a lot better than all these weak rappers.
Nice article from Slate that blames YouTube for the decline of rap. Check out the video slide show: http://www.slate.com/id/2169611/fr/flyout
kanye has the rap game on lock... ya'll should check out this song called us placers by crs its lupe, kanye, and pharrell
I know. Take me back to junior high, when it was about gang violence, resenting Caucasians, and sampling every George Clinton and James Brown song on the planet.
hahaha blaming youtube is like blaming mtv. the only ones to blame are record labels and all the idiots that buy this garbage.
