Just read that Lue went down with a knee injury. Could we trade Mooch to the Hawks for future draft pick(s) in order to open a roster spot for JB?
seriously no one needs moochie but i like having him on this team man, he is an awesome cheerleader and lockerroom guy. i dont think he can be moved by the deadline for something of value to the team, so why trade him for some un-proven pick? the cap relief would be more valuable at this point
Sorry, nothing personal...although I have to admit I had trouble finding items to tick off the list! Your post advocates a (X) trade ( ) FA signing ( ) draft ( ) personnel change ( ) game strategy change in order to solve the Rockets’ problems. Your idea will not work. Here is why it won’t work. (One or more of the following may apply to your particular idea, and it may have other flaws influenced by recent league rule changes). [ ] It will create problems for us offensively [ ] It will make our defense weaker [ ] Team chemistry will be fractured as a result [ ] We can’t afford it [X] The other team(s) would never agree to it [ ] The NBA would never allow it to happen [ ] It would be unpopular with the fans [ ] Requires us to give up too much [ ] We already have enough talent/depth at that position [ ] That player would never agree to such a deal [ ] Our team owner would never pay for it [ ] This does not help us in the long run Specifically, your plan fails to account for [ ] NBA league rules expressly prohibiting it [ ] Salary cap limitations [ ] Lack of depth/options on the trade/FA market at that position [ ] Known limitations of our roster players [ ] Our team’s identity and game strategy [ ] Lack of rebounding [ ] Lack of offensive production [X] Need for a true point guard [ ] Lack of a dependable 3rd scoring option [ ] Lack of defensive ability [ ] Lack of inside/low post presence [ ] Lack of perimeter shooting [ ] Loss of athleticism [X] Inconsistency in the production of player(s) involved [ ] History of injury problems [ ] Poor leadership qualities [ ] Depletion of youth on the roster [ ] Lack of league/playoff experience [ ] Attitude and personality problems with player(s) involved [ ] The need to add more cash to Les Alexander’s wallet [ ] Overblown media hype [ ] Poor matchups with potential playoff opponents [X] Poor depth of next year’s draft pool [X] The excessive conservatism of our front office And the following philosophical objections may also apply: [X] Ideas similar to yours are easy to come up with, yet have never worked in the past [ ] You can’t win a championship without good defense [ ] You can’t win a championship without dependable offensive options [ ] You can’t build a successful team without strong chemistry [X] We only have a limited amount of time to build around our superstars [ ] Too many long-term contracts hurt you in the long run [ ] It’s a dumb idea to attempt to rebuild a team in the middle of the season [ ] Players should be allowed to play to their own strengths [X] Feel-good measures do nothing to solve the problem [X] Doing it this way doesn’t make us strong enough [ ] Tanking is for losers, and results in a losing culture that we may never recover from Furthermore, this is what I think about you: [X] Sorry dude, but I don’t think it would work. [ ] This is a stupid idea, and you’re a stupid person for suggesting it. [ ] Nice try, moron! I’m going to find out where you live and burn your house down!
You need to take the excessive conservatism option off that list. Les is anything but excessively conservative.
Why would atlanta need moochie. Their season isn't going anywhere. Unless they figure that with mooch at the helm, they're guaranteed the most ping pong balls.
Trade him to the Knicks. They can pick up his option and he'll be good value as an expiring next year.
Speaking of Atlanta I wonder if they would go for Juwan and a #1 pick (top 3 protected) for Al Harrington. They could use a draft pick to replenish the two that they sent to Phoenix in the JJ trade. And I'm sure they wouldn't mind having a solid pro in Juwan on their roster (how much cap space does that team freaking need). He can show the young guys the ropes. And they'll probably lose Harrington anyway. And even if we let Harrington walk, we still free ourselves from Juwan's contract and, according to micah's projections we might have enough space under the cap to sign V-span, without using the MLE which we could spend on someone else.
Personally, I like X'man's list, and hereby vote to have it included on all future trade proposal posts. Matter of fact, I think I'll develop something similar for my office. Now if i can only remember what it is that i do for a living....
