This is good news, since Atlanta is unlikely to go after Mike James, but this also takes away a solid contingency plan in case the Rockets fail to sign him. Therefore it's more important now that the Rockets get a deal done.

Correct me if I am wrong, but 4yr 25M looks just slightly over the MLE, which the Hawks can do since they are under the cap.

The Mavs offered Mike James 3yr FULL MLE deal. I expect the Rockets to at least offer MJ a 4yr FULL MLE deal, or perhaps try to work out some sort of trade with the Raptors so they can preserve their MLE.

Sweet, with speedy Claxton out that mean the Roxs and Mavs are the Mike James main suitor

So if the Rockets get Mike James, can they trade Rafer for Derek Fisher?

This is great news. I think this for sure makes us the front runners for Mike James.

with the value comparison, I suspect a 4-year MLE deal would be enough (which is less than speedy's). I expect 4 year + player option year.

Well with Atlanta out, there's no more suitors for James that can offer more money than us. Toronto can offer him more, but I have my doubts on whether they want him back. Charlotte can't be looking at him since Felton and Knight are holding that spot down. Chicago's a no. Utah's a no. New Orleans is out. The clippers are no.

Boys, it's between us and Dallas. I think we've got the homecourt advantage. Of course, this is all screwed up if there's a good SnT offer. But it looks good.

Why wouldn't they? Championship experience, very solid three-point shooter, very nice post entry pass. He's the perfect backup point for the Rockets.

Exactly, JVG would love this guy. He's a vet, not too old, can hit big shots, and he's not a street baller.

Someone should mention this one to Morey and the FO

You could trade Alston (4.2M) for Fisher (5.8M) but we would have to throw in another contract to match salaries. Both of their deals end at the same time.

Fisher has big experience passing the ball to Kobe (swingman) we have tmac
and Shaq (Center) Yao is ours.

Beyond that, Rafer doesnt do anything else better.

Fisher wins this one IMO. Experience, better shot, the better player. Those things you mention didnt translate into anything but a contract from the Raptors

Fisher is far stronger which negates Alston's "height advantage"(1 inch). They can clearly defend the same types of guys. Fisher is a better defender.

    Quickness is debatable.

    Rafer is 2 years younger.

Rafer is a little cheaper. Their contracts end at the same time.

Better passer? Maybe a better playmaker. Fisher is very proficient at the post-entry pass, which is vital to the Rockets.

But most of all, Fisher's shooting is far superior. We need guys that can spread the floor.

i'm pretty sure you can't combine the TE with another player.
