Good luck GriffinFan. Definitely check out the website I mentioned earlier in the thread. They are a great online support group, with explanations, advice, and RECIPES!

I'm just about finished my first two weeks and it's going great. I think I'm going to step off of induction and go to OWL by adding some nuts and more veggies.

I've lost about 6 pounds and 1% of body fat so far, btw.

I've lost about 6 pounds in the last two weeks. I have made no changes to my diet. My main source of food is beer, burgers, pizza, and chinese. But, I started taking total lean from gnc and working out 3 to 4 times a week. Seems to be working. 6 pounds doesn't seem like alot, but you can see the difference.

1 week in and I'm following the diet very close. Last monday am straight out of the shower I was 209. Today 202.

Last week was preaty tough. Beating the caffiene addiction was the worst part and energy was lacking the first few days. Now I'm as full of energy as I've ever been and I have to be a little healthier since I cut out the cokes, booze, and all the sugar and carbs. I've eaten bacon, grilled pork chops, steak, grilled trout, shrimp on the grill and sauted in butter with garlic. I'm working on the vegtables and I even started to eat a few small salads which is a first for me in 34 years. I'm committed to droping the weight and being healthier in the long run.

Serious exercise starts today now that my energy has returned.

I may join this Atkins thread soon by going on the Atkins. I've done it before with good results but blew it once I went full swing back into carbs. This time, however, I will bike/jog/lift weights while doing it. Actually, if anyone has a BowFlex, then they have that six week plan for workouts with their own specific diet. I am going to use Atkins in place of their diet and keep their workout program they recommend. In six weeks, I should be a new man. Of course, if it doesn't last, then it's only temporary. What I have found that once you lose the weight and regardless really of what you eat(if you eat an amount within reason), if you continue the workout portion of the program you won't gain much if any weight back.

Last time I dieted(non-Atkins) I lost around 40 pounds to be a trim 174 pounds. I was jogging a couple miles a few times a week. I was cycling 30-60 minutes a few times a week. I was working out all muscle groups hard 1-2 times a week. I was also on a 1900 calorie limited diet of eating a healthy 50p/30c/20f. It took a while on this program but the weight came off really fast at a certain point in the program. Those were the best results I ever had from any program and/or diet. They didn't last because I didn't keep up the lifestyle after the first year. I peetered out.

The hardest part of getting into any diet/program is actually starting it(or the first week).

I got the book over the weekend and it's not nearly as crackpot as some people have made it out. Seems to focus most on limiting your carbohydrate intake and it's definitely not a starvation diet. I'm still not sure why a high fat diet would lose more weight than a high protein diet though, he doesn't explain that part too well or I haven't gotten to that part yet. I might be jumpin on the program soon.

    I think it's because:

#1 If your body is getting sufficient fat in it's food, it doesn't try to store it.
#2 Fat is a better source of energy plus it takes 4-5 calories to burn it (and less work to turn into sugar than protein)
#3 You feel fuller if you eat enough fat

Anyway, I'm off of induction today. Here is my report for the first two weeks:

Starting stats: 190 pounds, 19.6% body fat

Current stats: 182.5 pounds, 17.0% body fat

I'm moving on to the Ongoing Weight Loss stage (OWL). Wish me luck!

I am in OWL as well....still at 193 pounds. But, I am losing major inches.

I am not hungry at all, and drinking a lot of water.

I find that I actually lose a LOT faster when I excercise, so I am playing B-ball 2 days a week, and I can count on 2 pounds or so on those days.

Also, when I excercise my Ketostix go from Lavender to DEEP purple.
