    rimmy,

due to a severe injury caused by running, i was forced to stop and do other exercises. I've been doing a lot of EFX working out, which has actually cause me to lose about 7-8 more pounds in the past 2 months. But I think it's muscle mass, rather than fat, b/c I don't see any difference in my belly!

    drapg,

Didn't you also say that you eat a lot of cereal. Many breakfast cereals contain a lot of processed carbohydrates so you might want to watch for that.

What type of injury did you get from running and what is EFX?

drap -- have you ever tried Pilates? It focuses heavily on the abs and uses excercises that are very different from traditional sit-ups and crunches. It tends to lengthen and flatten the abdominal muscles as opposed to bulking them.

I've had very good results just doing it for 20 minutes, three times per week. Since the exercises stretch the body, I usually do them right before I do my cardio work. The Living Arts studio produces some of my favorite Pilates videos: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/A...8544173/sr=2-4/ref=sr_2_4/002-5262023-1635241

s_m - yeah i do eat a lot of cereal. i know my carbo intake is a problem. but with the amount of exercise i do, my body basically screams, crys, and begs for an overload of carbs. without it, i think i would just shrivel up and die. but i know my indulgence is a problem and i've tried cutting back. sadly, it can't be done. i just don't have the will power.

Mrs. JB - thanks for the advice. I'll have to look into it. My sister does that stuff, and I've always dismissed it as one of her kooky antics. I'm gonna have to call her and tell her to fill me in on the program.

sorry to hijack this thread. i now return you to your regularly scheduled programming... the Atkins Diet (which I despise, but I won't turn this into a thread to bash it... I've done that enough times in the past).

Some is water, but some is also fat. I have noticed a difference already, as has my wife.

For us, we had to make a lifestyle change anyway.....we both had gotten too big, and decided to use Atkins to get back to slim and then adjust our OWN diet based upon results.

Atkins for me is just a GET THERE QUICK method, then I will adjust in a more educated manner now that I unerstand body chemistry better.

It is not dangerous if you use it as a guideline for weight loss.

Well, I am also dieting for the first time in my life :( Previously when I need to lose a little wait, all I had to do was workout more. Now that I have a 9 month old baby :D I got no time at all to work out.

My strategy is to eat less, somewher between 1500-2000 calories a day. My target is about a pound a week. So far so good. I have lost 6 lbs in 6 weeks with another 6 lbs to go.

Okay, my starting weight is 190 lbs. I'd like to be around 160-170 lbs.

I'm on my third day, and I haven't had any craving for snacks or carbs. However, I got the ketostix (thanks DaDakota), and I got a negative reading.

It's probably the peanuts and macadamia nuts I've been eating. I didn't know you couldn't have them during induction and ate a bunch of peanuts last night.

How long before you were in ketosis DaDa? I think my main problem will be eating enough fat - I just don't like most fat sources.

    Gutter,

Get the book....peanuts and Macadamia nuts are not allowed during induction.

You are not in Ketosis yet, you ate too many carbs.

Your body has a 2 day supply of glucose, when you cut out carbs it forces your body to use those reserves as energy...then when that is all gone, you enter Ketosis as your body resorts to using the stored fat for energy.

By the way....I just had an awesome Chicken Ceasar salad from Jack in the Box....wow !!

It took me 3 days to enter ketosis, and by day 5 I was no longer pink but dark purple...the ultimate fat burning level....WOOT !

    Kam doesn't need to diet.

Fat is going to happen, unless you watch what you eat and get regular excercise.
