Not really a dumb quote, but an unwise one that I always loved: Oil Can Boyd said before his first game facing Bo Jackson, "I am The Can, and I am going to come right at you with my best ****, and if you can hit it, I want to see how far Bo Jackson can hit The Oil Can." Then Jackson took The Can's first pitch over the scoreboard in straight-away center at Fenway -- a 515' home run.
