So he's a loser because he did what we asked? He's a loser because he sat last year to help the tank? He's a loser because he is happy to be part of the rebuild and serve as a mentor to our young guys? EGo is a baller and has played better than any other Rocket this year. Don't be such a hater.
I’d do it now , unless he has a few dates circled for whatever reason . idk what we are thinking with Dennis . I really hope we aren’t planning on making a serious offer . Maybe we are hoping for a sign and trade ?
I like Gordon, I was on board with getting him here YEARS before we got him here, but his time is up, and he is not someone we are going to build around.....and yes it bothers me that he is ok losing......that sets a horrible example for our young guys. You know what losing begets? LOSING!!! Give me a VET that can't stand losing......to teach our young guys....someone that will fight tooth and nail to win...that is the mentor I want..... Bench him yesterday! DD
Gordon doesn't play a LOSING brand of basketball. The team is LOSING because they play a bunch of young kids who can't play D, make youthful mistakes, and are all currently on the floor because of their potential and not their actual skill level. (New coach wouldn't hurt, either) If "fighting tooth and nail to win" would mean Gordon taking the ball out of the hands of our young guys, no thank you. When I think of vet leadership is someone who practices hard, plays smart, unselfish, and is low drama. These are kids who still have growing up to do, and they need be be surrounded by pros. Gordon fits the bill. He's been a key part of great teams before, playoff tested, and he definitely knows how to win. I wanted him traded because I thought he'd bring back assets, but he's a good vet. Now I think he should be sitting, because again we need to tank. None of this is EG's fault.
That is just not true. You see it with Wall, what use is Wall to Houston? They are keeping him "hostage" or let's say they do not act in the best interest of the player. Similar thing with EGo. You should be calling Stone every day of every month because the player is clearly not the culprit. Whining about a player when the GM is at fault here, really helpful.
You don't need to sign and trade for a guy that'll probably get somewhere between vet min and MLE. It's starting to look like the FO is just stupid with the Dennis and Gordon situations. Reeks like Oladipo last year.
IMHO Wall is stuck - but in general I agree. Gordon however should have demanded a trade - guys that are ok, just making their money and losing are not champions.....nor are they leaders...... We need leadership and right now all we are doing is teaching our kids it is ok to lose. DD
If you are soon to be 33, that is like the waning years of your career. You wouldn't want to make a stand and fight everyone before you go down. I can understand where he is coming from, he is no Zelinskyy for sure, he is not fighting till the end. Hope they get things resolved in the summer, Wood is the main "guy" that should leave IMO.
No I didn't miss the memo. What I am saying him trade him now or next season, teams are looking at not just when they trade for him but how long he will be with them so I don't feel his value depreciates that much in the off-season based on age bc his contract is just as long today as it will be then
yeah teams are looking to give the rockets a more shitty deal when its all said and done as more time passes by. I knew that already though you don't understand trade value especially when it comes to EG
Wall's use is as an expiring contract. If they were to release him, they would still have to pay him that money and get no cap relief to sign a replacement with him. So, they might as well keep him in the chance that a franchise player becomes available and you need a lot of short-term money to facilitate the trade. It seems like a long shot, but it seems to be more and more common. And nobody is a hostage when the front door is wide open. He's free to go at any time.
Lol I meant that they keep those combo guards lying around like no care in the world. I mean I get it, they made the run for Westbrook to appease Harden and Harden laid an egg in return. Just comical at times how everything turns out for an unlucky franchise, that is all.
I don't know about shutting them down, but it's definitely time to dial their minutes back. Their backups should be getting at least equal time as them at this point. And probably slowly decrease it from there.
