I've long held the option that time is the ultimate currency, and commuting from A to B is the ultimate time suck because you are beholden to the whim of others. The longer it takes you to get somewhere=the higher the time cost. The internet, online shopping, a la carte services and telecommuting have vastly reduced the actual need to be anywhere physically, hence virtually folding space to make A to B is as fast as your internet connection and ability to mentally process input. But there are simply some things you have to do in person. Since teleportation isn't a reality at this point, private roads are not realistic and jetpacks aren't at a production point yet, the best option to cut local travel time is a high speed steam locomotive on private tracks (I also realize that taking a steam locomotive would mean employing staff to coordinate operation, so that's an added cost). I know that Disneyland employs steam locomotives and I would like to emulate them at some point, but I'm trying to figure out the point where it's feasible from a time/cost standpoint. I realize that this is a basketball forum, however, it has the most diverse socioeconomic collective I've seen in an online community, and that includes Reddit. Ideas? Thoughts? Anyone else considered this?
Joke's on you, Mr. Smartpants. See, this steam train can both fly and time travel. If you plug the same coordinates in on an existence level for one microsecond, you would effectively teleport because the earth, solar system, galaxy and universe is constantly moving. Ergo; better than a helicopter.
This is a wise investment if pulled off correctly. We are talking Bezos level of wealth. But before you proceed, I recommend talking to a prospector first to ensure that your tracks do not encroach on mineral deposits you may want to access later.
This topic consumes my thoughts. I’m outraged that Congress hasn’t given a huge flashing green light for projects like Hyperloop to take off. Why the heck are we still relying so heavily on freeways and airplanes? Everyone’s lives would be richer if we could travel to see our loved ones or vacation more conveniently
Would be cool to have high speed rail right alongside our highways (well at least some of our highways)
I agree. This is sort of an example of what I pictured on I-10 in California. My track would not have to be totally private, just during commuting hours.
Obviously fake. You want me to believe that cars on LA freeways can go as fast as a train!? Do I look that gullible to you!?
