At what age do you become the creepy old guy at a club?

Those are two separate questions to me.
Clubbing (dance clubs) get old quick. Its a rite of passage for girls to live out their newfound hoochdom and feel like a local pop sensation, on the guys expense. And guys do nothing but huddle in the background watching them.

25's an awkward time, isnt it? Its not to old for a club but just go occasionally instead of weekly. Add that magic 3 to the beginning of the age and it might be time to go something else entirely...

You never EVER have to start getting "serious" about ANYTHING ;) As long as your physically, mentally, and financially able to get girls under 21...not saying you wont eventually stop but WHY stop?. Just might not be at a club is all, gotta be more crafty and be wiling to spend more

If there is a band playing that I want to hear, I'm taking my grandpa self to listen. If that upsets the youngsters, so be it. I'll drag my 22 year old son along to fetch my beer.

Now, if you're talking about the boogie-till-you-puke and pick-up-a-drunk-chick type of going to a club, then the answer would be different.

An easy way to know if you are too old is if you don't recognize any of the music that is playing.

I'm 32. Went to a club to hear a DJ in Austin this weekend. Then went to some raver/warehouse thing.

I suppose going to a DJ show is a bit different than going to just a 'club' club, if you know what I'm saying. I wasn't the oldest person at either place by a long shot.

Plenty fun, and I was with a bunch of girls ~25 years old.

I'll still go to Fitzgerald's at 37 about twice a year if there is a band I really want to hear. Still have a couple friends/former employees who have bands that gig places that skew pretty darn young. I enjoy places like the Mucky Duck or Rudyards. Far as club clubs I wouldn't know. I used to go places like Bayou Mamas and Sharkdance and those places have been closed for more than a decade. I went to Daquiri Factory and Sam's Boat until I was clearly the "old guy in the club" but I didn't mind much. Probably if I had the disposable income I might still go. Just to drink and watch though....I need to pick up a 22 year old like I need to pick up a nasty virus.

Why is dating younger girls not serious?

I am 30 and generally date girls between 23-27.

Why oh why did I know I would become the scapegoat in this thread?

As some have said, there is a huge difference between "Clubs" vs. lounges and bars. That said, there are many places in town where people my age congregate quite regularly. I'm not a big "club" guy, any longer. Quite frankly, clubbing got tired around age 23 or so, but I will still venture to one occasionally if that is where the group is headed.

From what I've seen, Midtown is still built mostly around the 30ish crowd. Rice Village, however, is built mostly for the college crowd. It depends entirely where you go. I've gone to the Village before, and you do feel old when the majority of the crowd is in their early 20's.

And I will also say that the majority of the group I hang out with is in the 30-40 age bracket, of which I fall squarely in the middle.

It doesn't matter to me, however. I go out mainly to be with my friends and have a good time. It's been a long time since I've gone out for an evening solely to pick up a chick.

Yeah, there is a big difference between a teen/ early twenties dance club and a bar designed for the 30 set.

Please, if anyone sees me within a quarter mile of a club - for the love of all that is holy - SHOOT ME.

For the life of me, I can't understand why anyone would want to go anywhere near a dance club. The few times in my life that I've been dragged to a place like this, I've ended up miserable, sitting at the end of the bar, chugging beers while looking at my watch all night, praying to GOD ABOVE for the strength to make it without snipping my own nuts off until it's finally time to get the hell out of there.

When my band plays at a club, we go out the back door during our breaks and drink heavily from a cooler full of beer in one of our cars and don't go back in until a minute before we start playing again.

Bars, that's totally different. I don't mind bars as long as there's a game or a band and there's not a dress code.

At a club? You're already the creepy old guy.
At a bar? Never. (unless you're like 65 and hitting on a fresh 21 yr old. But if you're just hanging out drinking, that never gets old)
