I'm 20 and go back and live at home during the summer, it would make no sense to do otherwise.

However I have an aunt that just moved out of her parents house at 45. MOstly because she makes a negative income as a hair dresser.

I moved out when I was 21, and stayed living on my own until I was 30. In 2006 both of my parents became very ill, and needed someone to help them and be there with them. So now, I'm 34 and living with my folks, well they live with me actually. I pay the rent and all the bills. I have taken responsibility for doing for them what they did for me when I was growing up.

Exactly. Girls come for the sex, stay for the pancakes. And homemade tortillas.

There's a fine line between living at home continuously (including coming back for the summer during college) and having to move back in after moving out.

I didn't move out till I was 26 but when I did move out I bought a condo...

So I never had the luxury of wasting money on "renting"......

    Thank you

How young is too young to have your parents move in with you?
    'Cause we are going to.

    And it won't be pretty.

Man, don't even worry about it. As long as your parents will let you live with them and it makes sense for you, do it. Just don't be an idiot during that time and blow all of your money partying. One of the smartest things you can do today is live with your parents for an extra length of time and save money you would be throwing away on rent as a 19 year old.

If you're in school and still in your early 20's, it's ok. I was in and out of my parent's house until I graduated college at 24.

I've been on my own since I was 18 and although I've had a lot of fun because of it, I think back and realize that if I had not been spending that money on rent I'd have a lot more money right now as I've always been a good saver.

When you're old enough to drive the Trim away with statements like, "I live with my parents."

You move out when you're economically stable enough to do so, I say.

If you're wondering whether or not you're too old to live with your parents, chances are you're too old.

What if you're a fiscally responsible person who is completely financially indepedent, but whose parents enjoy your company, and want you to live with them for however long you feel? And what if the parents are willing to accomodate you with whatever means necessary for you to be comfortable NOW, and in the future? I just think this is a sweeping generality that is prevalent in America, but not so much in the rest of the world. Independence is not defined by living on your own.....it's defined by how dependent you are on others. If you live with your parents simply to share the company, and to save boatloads of cash in the process, I think you can still be considered independent.
