You're contradicting yourself. You don't think fans need to (over)analyze everything he does because it may be pointless, yet you're saying he's easy to read. The reason fans judge him is exactly for that reason. He's easy to read. And not just that, but he's willing to come out and tell you what he's thinking or feeling, so no reading needs to be done at times. I don't see the problem, especially when he likes the attention. Otherwise he wouldn't be making documentaries, over-tweeting, and seeking out Clutch to get on Clutchfans.
this was just a week after "Bench Bud, start T-Will", "OMG T-Will reads Clutchfans, he's the greatest", "Thank God Adelman is good, unleash T-Will". For once, I wish some of you guys just had the balls to hold true to your initial statements and eat crow if you're wrong. At this point, the jury is still out on T-Will. There are still many games to be played.
TWill doesn't have the mentality of the guys you mentioned. If he did, he'd have at least practiced enough to be worthy of a rotation spot on a .500 team. Being nuts doesn't prevent a player from being a good or even great basketball player. Being disillusioned about one's basketball skills and unwillingness to improve does.
Some of you guys are going a little nuts. Sure, none of us have liked what we have seen so far. Let's not jump to conclusions either way.
If those are the worst moves by Morey then he is doing very well... Thabeet wasn't even really a risk..
Frankly, all that matters is game. Kobe pouts. Lebron pouts. Lots of people hate it when they don't play or when they don't win. All that matters is that, T-Will's game has improved a little bit, and there is room for more improvement. If he is nailing the midrange J like a monster, he is starting over C-Bud and we are not even having this conversation. He will bounce back, the Bud/Martin partnership won't last very long IMO. McHale has shown that he is going to be more defensive than initially suggested, and less offensive than initially suggested. Individual talent and defense are more useful on McHale's team than Adelman's. If we keep the roster together and T-Will continues to work hard and stay proffessional, I think T-Will ends the season as the best SF on the team. If I were a player looking for minutes for years and my minutes dissapeared instantly in a season where there's very little practice time and talking to coach time, I would be concerned too, probably enough to distract me from the game at least for a while. I am especially surprised because he was one of the fittest players in camp and generally seemed to be working hard. Honestly though, T-Will is not going to change who he is. He's a very talented guy, some good potential. If you have a look at the most talented people in the league, they usually do not have a conformist attitude and tend to deviate from the norm. It's the ones who know how to separate the locker room from the court that usually succeed. Focusing on arbitrary things like his demeanour in a game he didn't play in, is really like us slashing the locker room's throat and throwing its dead corpse onto the court - makes it hard for him to separate these two things. I would think by now people can see that that we try to reduce bad habits and increase good habits in players, but we can't really change who they are. It is rare to see someone change their practice habits, their off-court habits ,etc after a few years in the league. We shouldn't waste more time/resources on this than we already have IMO. The guy was visibly upset. I hope it doesn't continue, I hope it's nothing serious. I don't really expect T-Will to act like someone else's perception of "a good teammate" to make me happy with his contribution.
Rudy Gay is not that good, we needed Battier to win now. Injuries to our star players prevented that.
I don't think you get playing time if you aren't doing something in practices to get the coaches attention. (ex., Chandler Parsons) And Terrence has gotten some minutes. It's not like he hasn't. When you have been under 3 different coaches and "something" just doesn't seem right to outside observers (us fans), it can become like players "forcing" instead of letting the game "come to them." It can also become like, "passive/agressive." It may very well be that his assessment of his skills is preventing him from finding his identity with any team he's been on. I think he is frustrated. In his mind it probably seems like, "Here we go again." In this article, Rick Pitino speaks well of him. And here, some heady comments, too. When you do have so many skills, it probably can feel like, if your not using them all in a game, your becoming stagnant or regressing. I think he's a bit too unselfish when in the game, precisely because he could seem selfish by demonstrating all those skills. In other words, he's still thinking too much when on the court. The mental part might be figuring out how to accept that all those skills probably won't show up in any one game... or at least not very often.... Once he relaxes and "lets the game," (as in playing time), come to him, I think he will blossom as everyone expected him too. He does have too many skills for that not to happen. I, for one, will take coach Pitino's assessment. (If you read this Terrence, there are fans who want you to succeed very much; as badly as you want more playing time. You'll have to figure out how to "relax" after the scrutiny you've gotten so far in your NBA career. I do think cheering on your teammates can help one relax. Smiles don't cost anything, but they sure have a big effect on the receivers. I've never seen an ugly smile. Let that good heart that coach Pitino talked about shine. Your natural talent will do the rest.)
i'm sure t-will will read this thread and this thread wasn't a complete waste of time and space on the GARM... oh wait
I think it is a numbers situation more than what he did on the floor, I did not think he played badly overall and his offensive numbers look pretty nice. There are just people ahead of him that are performing better on both ends, and there are only so many minutes to go around. It just looks like a big old chemistry mess to me, too many players and not enough minutes to go around...so guys that are near equal in ability or slightly different get left out..... It is not fair, but it is what it is.... DD
He will get some more chances during this 4 game stance, if he plays well maybe he will start seeing more time off the bench.
