Some wisdom here. Twill needs some therapy from a sports psychologist or counselor.

Twill's root problem is an inability to handle or process failure/shame. An "adult" is capable of keeping a healthy and realistic view of oneself. So when an adult sucks or fails at something they process it, learn from it, and get better as a result.

A "child" can't handle failure or others perceiving that they've failed an expectation. As a result they will either try to run and hide in shame or become angry and rebellious in trying to regain some power.

An "adolescent" fluctuates as they try to make it to the confidence and capability of an "adult". There will be moments of over confidence as they try to prove to themselves and others they're capable (imagine a teenager wanting more freedom and autonomy before they're ready). The problem is when they fail or make mistakes they'll either a) get angry at authority figures over them or peers blaming them for their mistakes or resenting them or b) withdraw in self doubt and insecurity.

What you see from twill is the adolescent mindset (and some regression into child like behavior). He comes off as self centered and arrogant, but his root issue ironically is insecurity, self doubt, and an inability to process through failures. He has to (what every adult has to learn) is to accept himself for what he is and be comfortable with that. Only then can he grow and learn as a player but more importantly a human being.

Time to get some counseling twill...no shame in that. We all have to grow somehow.

I think we wasted a 1st round pick on him. I don't see him getting much playing time. When he is in the game, he keeps waiving off Dragic when he ask for the ball. I didn't like that. He is not a point guard to ball hog like that

most of people talk that Terrence Williams is a bad player..I don't think so.When he is on the court he look to pass..that prove that he is not selfish..when he have chance to shot the ball he shot..i think he is great team player, and he deserve to play.. :)

No, he is a player of two mentalities, both of when cannot coexist - either pass, or shoot. When he goes into pass mode, all he does is pass. When he goes into shoot mode, all he does is shoot.

This guy is a loser and he's too full of himself to realize it. I cant see him ever making the changes in his attitude he needs to make to be an effective nba player.

Agreed. He has the tools, I wish he played with the heart of Lowry or Scola.

He does not have all the tools, mentality is the biggest tool of all, and he lacks that.

Until he learns to listen to coaches (they are trying to help him not hold him back) he will continually fall short.

And I am no longer going to call him TWill, he has not earned a nickname, it is simply Terrance.

Terrence sounds more respectful...nicknames like Twill aren't really earned anyway...maybe we should call him Player 4019

I disagree. He doesn't lack mentality; he is of just of a different than usual mentality. I'd sure hate it if his attitude/sensitivity/mania/whatever caused him to turn into a lousy player like Dennis Rodman or Ron Artest or Rasheed Wallace or Vernon Maxwell.

There is a wonderful book that was recently released called A First Rate Madness. It examines how leaders with mood disorders (Sherman, Lincoln, FDR, Kennedy, Ghandi, MLK, etc.) make better leaders in times of crisis and makes a very compelling case for "unstable" people having gifts that "stable" ones might not.

I love every ******* thing about T-Will. I think he's going to be our next All-Star. Even when he makes mistakes (and he makes many) they are of the sort that make me think, what a creative mistake. His mind is going too fast for his body. Or his body too fast for his mind. He is like an alien.

T-Will, if you're reading, everybody can benefit from talk therapy but don't let anybody make you think you're wrong for having feelings and expressing them. You are you. And you are clearly touched. Don't go changing.

I'm not too worried. I would love for Terrence to get some PT, but if we're winning than honestly I don't give a damn. I do think that Terrence CAN make this team better. He just needs to stop being a punk on the court. He is soooo f'n passive it's annoying. He's too scared to make mistakes because Clutchfans puts him under a scope.

Terrence, quit being soo f'n scared to make mistakes. Just play basketball!

I like your passion Bman, but let me throw a small counter punch into your argument.

The difference in all of those players, is that they all competed hard on the floor at all times, while they were wacky they were not pruning for the camera during games, and all of them added something unique to the game at an elite level.

    Rodman - rebounding
    Wallace - Scoring
    Artest - Defense
    Maxwell - defense

    Terrence does nothing elite.

That is great if we are looking for a leader of an army or movement, but Terrence has none of the leadership traits you are talking about he is 100% a follower, someone desperate for attention, rather than someone leading a cause who is soley driven, if he had that mindset we would not be having this discussion.

I really hope you are right, but he has not shown any inclination in 2+ years to be an all star player, not sure many come on like gangbusters after busting out for a couple of years.

Terrence, don't listen to enablers and yes men, that has gotten you firmly glued to the bench, you need to find out where you fit and attack that area with a passion, do not worry about anything other than focusing on the basketball court.

Focus on offense, focus on defense, do not look at the camera or the crowd, focus....that is what you lack.

Some things never change. Was why I was never on the T-Will bandwagon. He has a load of talent, but his attitude and body language flat out SUCKS more often than not. He's not a cancer, but he's poisonous.

A lot like DeMarcus Cousins, for that matter ...

Crazy to think that fans blame this guy for thinking he is the centre of the world, and then proceed to analyse every single thing he does or even thinks at the most "who cares" kind of moment.

I am not even a fan of TWill personality or anything like that, but the in-depth analyses this guy gets on this board is crazy, specially considering the little amount of minutes he has played as a Rocket.

Let this guy be what he is, play, make mistakes, be selfish, be too unselfish, etc, without judging every single thing he does or thinks. Fans do this because TWill is as easy to read as a book, and he lets his body language describe the way he feels at a certain point.

TWill needs to play b-ball and fans need to stop over-analysing non issues with target players (any player).

Welcome to Clutchfans Ter...I mean, blackmix13. I too hope yo..I mean, he gets a chance to play more. He should be happy and supportive of the team goals though, even if that means he's not playing some nights.
