More athleticism and unbelievable potential. Brewer may have a bigger impact as a rookie because he's closer to a finished product but Carney might be special. I'm not that strong with this opinion and might change 2-3 more times before the draft.
Just like everyone else, I'd go with Adam Morrison. He's got more ways to score than anyone I've seen since Olajuwan. That includes Kobe. Morrison is very very creative and seems to have a passion for the game. The interesting thing would be to ask what your second pick would be.
We take Marcus Williams, sit rafer on the bench as backup. OR trade him with Stro Show and move up high in first to get 2 top flight players.
Yeah, if Morrison fell to us, as unlikely as that would be, I would take him too. If he doesn't fit (because Tracy won't budge from the 3), we could always trade him. By the way, when Stern says it's your turn to draft, what's the penalty for running out of time?
There is no way Morrison falls past 5. Carney would be the next best available. He can play the 2/3, which is what we need.
It's not unusuall for great players to drop for various reasons. Paul Peirce dropped Caron Butler dropped Eddie Griffen dropped..... OK Eddie sucks. Maybe GM's start questioning Morrison due to his diabeaties and he drops...who knows.
you take morrison, he could even then be packaged in a trade to acquire a vetran who can help immediately.
What a silly thing to suggest! You don't trade talent like Morrison!!! Morrison is a player who would be starting right away for the Rockets and in a season or two would be better than most veterans. Remember the Rockets are not going to win the Championship for a couple of seasons. First they must rebuild the team with quality role players and get rid of all of our so called oldveterans including Swift and Bowen. If Tracy Mc Grady is injured from time to time then Morrison could be a worthy stand in. The Rockets would be very lucky to have Morrison fall to the 8th.Spot and would consider themseves playoff bound this upcoming season.
What I meant was if you put him in a list with Brewer, Carney, Redick, etc and ask the forum who they would take, it's obvious Morrison would be the majority pick. For me, it would be more interesting to see how the others compared to each other without Morrison as a choice. I'm not saying it's impossible to get him at #8, just very close to it.
Morrison has instant offense but has no defense when he try out against George of the Lakers. Rodney Carney has good leap ,good offense, good defender and has great work ethics. Will fit in well. Reddick will be my second option, although not much of a defender.
Call your local cable channels, so you'll be updated of all the players being tried out by some teams and Morrison can't play "D" as in damn ass! And Carney is the best pick in the draft for 2&3 spots. Check it out, oh and drugs are for losers.
Morrison would be a great fit with TMac much like Mike Miller did in Orlando. If there's anything we need, it's OFFENSE. We need scorers in the worst way. With Morrison not there, I'd either trade the pick to N.O. for their 2 picks or look at Carney very, very closely. I'm not sold on him, but I'd have to consider him and Sheldon.
Morrison's ability to create offense for himself in all areas of the court, plus his height, make him worth the #8 pick despite his lack of defense. Also, Brewer > Carney for the 2/3 spots...especially when you throw the 1 spot on top of that.
Picking Morrison out of that group would be a no brainer. Talent wise, he is head and shoulders above those guys. But if players like Thomas, Gay, and Roy are added to the list (guys who could fall as well), I think you'll get the discussion you're looking for.
