IF this deal goes through, ATT will be forced to divest a lot of the common markets. The big 3, Verizon, ATT and Sprint will not be buying each other out anytime soon. If Sprint is ever bought, it will be bought by a company who does not currently provide wireless services.
sorry in advance about that sprint stock, macalu. on sprint, for now. hopefully the at&t&t (thx mr. clutch) churn will make things a little brighter for sprint in the mean time.
Yeah, I feel sorry for anyone with that 4 dollar stock lol anyways, im a former sprint customer. there is good news that I know of Sprint has a tentative agreement in place with Alcatel lucent, ericcson, and samsung to start deploying LTE onto cell sites. They will keep everyone on wi-max alive for a while as they have the technology to be able to run wi-max and LTE but will eventually kill it off slowly. iDEN style. Sprint roams on Verizon so that's the place you wanna go for the best bang for your buck, if you have an android phone. You can root your android and use RoamControl, to force roam onto VZW towers. However you will be on 1X, though I do know of PRL hack to fully enable 3g you'll be okay sprint. just please stop making wi-max products EVO VIEW , EVO 3D, NEXUS S 4G, and Motorola xoom are upcoming on March 22nd to be announced all rocking wi-max... eww. 2.5 ghz
yeah, the guy who found that 3g hack brought it along from the webos community when he had a palm... errr... hp pre. i'll keep my 3g (don't have wimax here in galveston) speeds as long as i can also keep my non-tiered data plan and data cap that's not enforced. until smartphone batteries are improved, i wouldn't turn on 4g unless downloading a rom or something (not worth the five hour battery [if even that much]).

hehe yeah , then you know what i'm talking about yeah. I love webOS. Too bad i don't see it ever taking off like android. There's a cool app on android called wave launcher that gives your phone a "webOS" type feeling hehe. yeah 3g is pretty good, 4g killllllss battery life man so you're right about that.
I do have a simple question. Why is "3G" on Sprint/Verizon (I say it in quotes since 3G is supposed to be handle voice/data simultaneously) so slow (1-1.5 MBPS if you are lucky) while 3G on AT&T very fast (2-3MBPS+ and even faster on GSM carriers in Europe/Asia)?
The last two weeks, I have been calling T-Mobile, Verizon, and Sprint to switch from AT&T because they tried to screw me with some BS charges. And after extensive research, I was about to go with T-Mobile because they have a really good promo right now. But how am I supposed to stick it to AT&T now? Damn you AT&T!!!
3g GSM can use HSPA which can go up to 7.2 mbps depending in your market. As for sprijt and verizon you are currently unable to do simultaneous voice and data except with Verizon there has been a software upgrade in place to those towers I recently found that out. The thunderbolt isbthe only cdma phone in America that can do simultaenous voice and data over 3g (of course you can do this on 4g, even on sprint due to seperate radios in the phones ) As for 3g on evdo (cdma 3g) theoretical backhaul is 3.1 mbps
Probably something similar to Cingular customers, incrementally crappier and costly-er service. "Grandfathered" plans, pfffffbt. I'm going Metro PCS
