Beat me to it, but it seems obvious. A day or two ago someone posted a "Wafer to Phoenix?" thread. I forgot the source. But if it has substance to it, and since a healthy Stoudemire would be exactly the sort of center/PF we need, and IF we don't mind paying Richardson for the next two years to stand out there and shoot 3's (albeit at 40% accuracy): Tracy/Landry/Wafer (re-signed) for Amare/Richardson? Something along those lines wouldn't stun me.
McGrady + Dorsey + Wafer (S&T) → Flynn + E.Thomas + Cardinal + Madsen *Rockets reduce team salary by $2.37756M *Thomas cannot be packaged in a trade until Aug 24 *Flynn cannot be traded until Aug 10 Rubio, Telfair, Brown Ellington, Wafer McGrady, Gomes, Brewer Love, Smith, Songaila Jefferson, Dorsey, Pecherov McGrady + Dorsey + Wafer (S&T) → Martin + Nocioni + K.Thomas *Maloofs got burnt by Bernie Madoff *Kings want new stadium, looking at moving to another city. Udrih, Rodriguez Evans, Wafer McGrady, Garcia, Casspi Thompson, Greene Hawes, Dorsey
This would be a really, really good trade for the Rockets. Not only do we get the lottery pick Flynn, but Thomas/Cardinal/Madsen's contracts all expire after the season, as well, so if they don't work out, we just let 'em walk. That being said, I cannot see any fathomable reason Minnesota would do this. It's like swapping some expiring contacts (McGrady for Thomas/Cardinal/Madsen), and then Dorsey/Wafer for Flynn. I think the Timberwolves would much rather Flynn.
The first idea is terrible,Flynn is good but lacks star potential and the rest of it is just junk. The second one is pretty good, but the Kings haven't shown any interest in McGrady.
If Popeye posted this y'all would go ape crap on yourselves and not sleep for 6 weeks speculating about the Rockets getting Rashard Lewis or resigning Magic Johnson as the designated inbound passer on halfcourt out of bounds plays. Just sayin...
The Rockets were supposed to have offered McGrady for the 3rd/5th/6th pick + junk contracts on draft day.
I'm glad it didn't work out. This draft is weak. Some good role players with only Blake Griffin as a sure fire pick. I don't think he is tradeable anyway.
You can't sign and trade Wafer for anything more than the minimum (which he wouldn't accept). That's because we don't have any Bird rights to Wafer and the NBA CBA stipulates that you can't do a sign and trade agreement using the MLE (which is all the money we have left).
JUST FOR FUN!! Just for fun I thought I would throw this out there as THE trade that keeps us winning now and into the future. I do not think this would ever happen, I just want to toss this trade around for $hits and giggles. Fact: Reported today: Chris Paul strongly believes that he could be traded this year due to New Orleans struggling so bad financially. Fact: New Orleans has been trying to deal Tyson Chandler since last year with a completed deal nixed due to a failed physical by Chandler. Fact: New Orleans feels they have not received the dollar/performance value they expected since they signed Peja Stojakovic to his contract. They have tried to move him without any takers. Fact: Houston is looking to move Tracy McGrady's expiring $23,000,000 contract. Fact: Yao Ming is out for the season and Darryl Morey has made it clear that he will attempt to upgrade the Center position through a trade. Fact: Houston is actively shopping Carl Landry. Fact: Houston has been looking for an upgrade at Point Guard and has been willing to part with Aaron Brooks (though they would have to get a superior point guard in return. Ex: Ricky Rubio) Fact: Houston and New Orleans have been willing trading partners over the past couple of years with management that appears to be on very good terms with one another. Fact: Someone will take this cheesy "Fact:" writing style and make one up of their own to make fun of it. No Doubt. THE TRADE Houston Trades: - Tracy McGrady ($23,239,561 - Expiring Deal, with the option of getting an insurance reimbursement of up to the MLE; approximately $6,000,000 immediately due to McGrady's long term injury.) - Carl Landry ($3,000,000 - 1 year remaining, very athletic, excellent midrange game, excellent rebounder, still has considerable growth to reach potential, already could be a starter on most NBA teams) - Aaron Brooks ($1,118,520 - Team option next 2 seasons, extremely quick, excellent inside/outside game, still developing with potential to be one of the top scoring point guards in the league. Very efficient shooter and scorer at the basket.) - Cash Considerations ( Upwards of $3,000,000 to make salaries work) New Orleans Trades: - Chris Paul ($13,758,000 - 4 years remaining, considered the top point guard in the league, Complete all around game, offense and defense, true floor leader, as long as stays healthy will potentially be the starting point guard on the all star team for the next 10 years regardless of conference.) - Tyson Chandler ($11,850,000 - 1 year remaining; player option; Chandler has been injured but is a solid post defender and hustler. He does not bring much on the offensive end except for put backs or alley-oop dunks courtesy of the exceptional passing from Chris Paul but he can help anchor the defense in the paint with his height and athleticism. Adelman would be able to utilize his talent with cuts and screens to create space for him to score.) - Peja Stojakovic - ($14,202,000 - 1 year remaining; Has struggled to stay completely healthy the last couple of years but can still be effective. Had his best seasons under Adelman in Sacramento with a system that fit his game perfectly, very intelligent and gifted basketball player, potential scoring average returning under Adelman 15-18 PPG) HOUSTON'S 2009-2010 LINE-UP Point Guard ------> Chris Paul (6-0) ________ Kyle Lowry (6-0)__________ Brent Barry (6-6) Shooting Guard --> Trevor Ariza (6-8) ______ Chase Budinger (6-7) ______ Jermaine Taylor (6-4) Small Forward ----> Shane Battier (6-8)_____ Peja Stojakovic (6-10) _____ James White (6-7) Power Forward ---> Luis Scola (6-9) ________ Chuck Hayes (6-6) Center ------------> Tyson Chandler (7-1) ____ David Andersen (6-11) ____ Joey Dorsey (6-8) After looking at this line-up, it still seems quite flawed. You have the great all around game and leadership of Chris Paul, but the roster seems to lack significant depth. Plus, outside of Paul there is not another player with a complete all around game such as Ron Artest who is highly effective on both sides of the court. It's a little disappointing actually. Oh well, it will never happen anyway. . . . . . . . . . or will it? When Yao returns in 2010-2011: Point Guard ------> Chris Paul (6-0) ________ Kyle Lowry (6-0)__________ Brent Barry (6-6) Shooting Guard --> Trevor Ariza (6-8) ______ Chase Budinger (6-7) ______ Jermaine Taylor (6-4) Small Forward ----> Shane Battier (6-8)_____ Peja Stojakovic (6-10) _____ James White (6-7) Power Forward ---> Luis Scola (6-9) ________ Chuck Hayes (6-6) ________ Joey Dorsey (6-8) Center ------------> Yao Ming (7-6) _________ Tyson Chandler (7-1) ______ David Andersen (6-11) THAT'S BETTER!
OMG!!!!! You do realize that Our Star Center is injury prone and out for the season. Yet you trade away our expiring contract which is best to keep for 2 more injury prone players who contract runs longer and are barely on the floor... HMMMMM your fired after the 1st year and clutchfans members would be calling for your head.
Yeah, well, suck it! I ain't scurred! LOL. J/K. If you think about it, you get the best player out of the deal, and two players who fill short term needs. It's all fo fun anywho.
I know its all fun but still that trade is just Bad lol. Yeah we get Paul but wow. And another thing is the Hornets are in our division. Let McGrady come back strong and its going to be a nightmare
Looks like Miami wants to put pieces around Wade but there not doing so well financially so I say we get in these Boozer talks and propose something like this... Utah gets Barry, Cook and M.Blount Almost 14 million come off the books next summer probably release Cook to help with there LT this season. Maimi gets Boozer It gets there PF to pair with Wade and possibly Odom Rox get Haslem Gets rid of two players who weren't going to do much for some inside help while 7.1 million off the books next summer. It doesn't quite work by like 50k so Morey may need to work some magic but this benefits all parties.
Beyond whether or not the trade was a good idea, I am the least concerned about how Tracy McGrady will play after traded. It is not like the knee injury is the only injury problem he has had. The back spasms took him out of a ton of games and were expected to permanently hinder him for the rest of his career, then he had mental issues. . . constantly. . . and still does. The real problem with McGrady is that he ALWAYS has some problem. When he does not have anything physically wrong with him and he starts sucking he starts complaining about how he has personal problems and is just not focused. . . blah, blah, blah. . . he's a whiny b**** who always has an excuse. Whatever success he has will not last long because he will just break down again. Just for the sake of discussing the trade idea, Peja would be much better for the Rockets than McGrady because Peja fits this system. McGrady doesn't. Upgrade there. Paul >>>>> Brooks. No words necessary here. The only questionable parts of the trade is whether or not it is worth taking Chandler (who even Clutch was recommending we trade for) off of their hands for Landry and that we push further into the LT in the short term. The possibility of signing big free agents in 2010 are dwindling with the current economic state so holding out for that will most likely be fruitless. I doubt McGrady hangs around Houston after this year. He'll sign cheap with a real competitor to take the loser stigma off of his back and so he doesn't have to be the main guy so we might as well trade him and get something out of it. Beyond the point, this trade would never happen. I guess I just wanted to make a point.
stfu Mcgrady is not comming back strong hes gonna continue to be weak and hurt he wil be max 15 ppg 39 % fg
You can't be serious. Or maybe I misread something. I don't know where to begin if you think Tmac, Brooks, Landry for Paul, Peja, Chandler is a bad trade for us.
