Pat is far better than Hill or Thabeet as a C or anything else.

Thabeet's reported (by DD) body fat% of 3.5 is barely lower than his PER of 4.7.

Hill was the human embodiment of impending doom last season and, along with Brooks, cost the team a playoff berth and possibly a major trade.

These guys will have to become completely different human beings to be in the same league as Pat.

Yup, those are the only good stats when it comes to Thabeet and he was born with them... yipppeee. The worst part about these stats for Thabeet is that they make the chairs on the side of the court much more uncomfortable than if he were more normal sized.

Chuck on the other hand has good stats that are related to what he has done while PLAYING basketball and working his ass off.

Chuck is the embodiment of everything McHale says he wants in a player. 5 million per for 5 years is too much considering where the Rockets stand atm. I miss Chuck already.

Also, 47.8 TS%, 4.7 PER, 5.1 points, 7.2 rebounds and 7.3 PF per 36 minutes in 373 minutes played last season. How many other players in the league had a higher PF/36 minute than he does points/36, rebounds/36 AND PER?

I believe he was 7'3'' while putting up these numbers also.

He was more effective with playing time during his rookie season, not in garbage time with Memphis backing up Gasol.

He played 2 games with Houston, for 2 minutes each.....

There is not a lot you can get out of that, he needs work, and what better place to get it than in Houston tutored by CD, McHale and Dream.

The guy just needs to play and have someone believe in him.....even if he only becomes a 7'3" defensive rim protector, that would be enough....but I think he has a lot more to give.

    This.

I don't get all the hype surrounding Thabeet.

I don't mind seeing him play but he is at best an off the bench player behind Patterson and Hill, who have proven more than Thabeet has.

Yeah he can block a shot or two, but blocking shots does not make you a good defensive player.

What better place to get work for Thabeet than Houston? I know: Rio Grande Valley.

Thabeet worked with Hakeem during his time in Memphis. Maybe he should have worked with someone whose game he can actually emulate, like Greg Ostertag.

Only problem with little Chucky is he's 6 to 8 inches to short to play center. The rockets had two of the top 20 defenders in the league in Battier and Chuck, yet it was still a layup drill for oppossing teams. Rim protectors needed.

If you block enough and stay on the court then it does:grin:

But we're going by the assumption that blocking shots makes you a good defender.

Amare Stoudamire is averaging 2 blocks a game in New York, that's tied with Yao's career best in blocks per game in a season.

Does Stoudamire protect the rim like Yao does?

And that's only one part of it, he probably won't stay on the court for long.

He can't be sent to RGV any longer and the D-league is not really a place for bigs to develop, they play up and down no defense basketball.

He needs time with CD to fix his footwork and with McHale to show him how to play the paint.

I don't get why people hate a guy who has barely scratche the surface of what type of player he can be.....at a position of need.

    It is bizzare.

Barring any big trades, I see a Thabeet / Kyrylo Fesenko combination for 2011/12.
