Damnit. That sucks...about your face....and even more about the game!! I hope we win tonight. The cubs won the series with the yanks, i hope the rockets can pull this one out.
yeah...i think i'll be leaving my astros gear at home when I head to Fenway on Friday. thanks for the tip! sorry this happened to you!!! we can talk all we want about houston and other cities in the west and south not being the sports cities that NY or Boston are...but everytime I read about the kind of crap these people pull up there, I give serious consideration to thanking my lucky stars I'm in Texas.
Yup. We're not a great sports town because we don't burn, loot, and riot when we win? Let's hope the yankees make a few mistakes tonight instead of the Astros.
this is my point exactly. they have no respect for the game, or for interleague play for that matter. I thought it would be an experience going to Yankee Stadium to see the Astros in their first appearance ever. The hecklers were fine during the game, I expected that. my friend from Houston was decked out in full jersey and throwback gear. the game itself was fun. i had a blast. i had a few beers, we sat next to some Houston fans and some pretty cool Yankee fans. it was after the game was over, dealing with the crowds. as i was walking down an exit ramp, i was smiling and having a good time with my boys, when someone reached through the gate and flipped my hat off. I turned around and approached the fellow through the bars of the exit ramps. I smiled and said, "Hey, I'm just here to have a good time. whats the point of messing with my hat?" you follow? this guy was huge, he was probably an ex-baller himself.(baseball) he reached through the gates and popped me one right in my cheek. I am a skinny buck thirty on a heavy day, and I was stunned. it didnt really hurt, it was just the absudity of it all. i tried to find security and he was long gone. so much rage after that, i started running my mouth to anyone who would listen. a few people apologized, but even more continued to heckle. whatever, f*ck Yankee fans. this is personal now, I really want the Yankees to lose the next two games, I liked it better when these morons (the fans) have nothing to cheer about. Yankees on the way down, Stros on the way up. i can feel it. for my cheek's sake, GO ASTROS!
What a moron. It sucks to know that people like that exist. Good natured heckling is one thing, I do it all the time to "foreigners" at Union Station, but I have no idea what, other than utter stupidity coupled with alcohol, would possess someone to get violent over a sporting event. Boggles my mind. God I love Texas. Great sig, btw.
This kid I know that lives up in the Northeast always goes to baseball games up there. He says that the Yankees(and fans) are the worst things to watch in baseball. He usually stays after to get atugraphs, and from what I hear, Yankee players are concieted and arrogant. They won't sign autgraphs, and they won't even talk to the fans!! During the games they have no enthusiasm. This is just from what I hear though..... That sucks 110thstreet. I would have grabbed something and hit him with it if he was bigger than me. If I got hit, I wouldn't just walk off. No offence, though, you said the guy was WAY bigger, and he also ran away. Nobody wants to see me go crazy on someone else. I now dislike the yankees.
I really hope the stros pull this one out tonight. Come on stros. Damn, i am so proud to be a Houstonian. Fans here are so much more calm....even TOO calm. Though we do have our share of hardcore fans like me. Though i would never do anything more than yell louder durring a game if i was sitting near fans of the opponents.
Bagwell is going to have to figure out how to get that run home against good teams if we want to win in the playoffs. Plays like that frustrate me to no end.
Okay, I know it must have been some glitch...but did anyone else notice that on that last fastball Roy Oswalt threw to Giambi (the one he struck out on) the radar gun that is broadcast on the screen registered the pitch at 108 mph?
Bagwell has never learned to cut down his swing with 2 strikes. He has always gotten by during the regular season, but the playoffs are different. Pitchers are smarter (due to detailed scouting reports) and take advantage of Bagwell swinging from his heels. If you notice, Jeff Kent is especially good at cutting his swing down and using the entire field with 2 strikes on him. It's hard to fool him.
I'm watching the Yankee broadcast and there was no mention of it. They would be all over a 108 mph pitch if there ever was one. Chalk it up to the Astros highly questionable radar guns.
How many times has that happened. I've watched at least half the games this season, and have never seen it go to 108.
