Dodgers were heavy favorites against us in 2017 but we all saw how that turned out. We teed off on the pitch tipping master himself Darvish in game 7 and sucked all the air out of that stadium. They never recovered after that and it has been sour grapes from them ever since.
I suppose in the playoffs they have come up short most years. However, they are obviously a great team with loads of great players. Winning 100-112 games a season is rarified air.
Don't mean a thing without that ring. 2017 Rockets want a word with you. The best record in team history still didnt win it all that's all people remember about that team.
It’s not just winning game 4 but how they did it. The Phillies had shown they could hit there way out of trouble and to be no hit at home was an ego blow. To the Phillies credit they didn’t fold in game 5 and made it interesting but I think game 4 was the beginning of the end for them.
That was 1 season also, the best team usually wins in basketball in a 7 game series. Thats not at all the case with baseball.
It wasn't just one season they built up the roster through the years and we're a consistent winning team and then the Chris Paul trade took them to the next level and made them legit title contenders. They didn't get it done so they blew the whole team up. The Warriors were their kryptonite a lot like how wild card teams in the NL are the Dodgers kryptonite.
And the Rockets certainly weren’t the best team that year once Chris Paul went down. So, the better team did not lose that series.
Rockets had their chances in games 6 and 7 to close it out even with Paul out they had double digit leads in both those games. They collapsed in the second halfs in both games 6 and 7. They missed an NBA record for three pointers in game 7. I still don't believe to this day the Warriors had the better team that year but they did win so you can't take that away from them.
I watched it bro. The whole series. I know what happened. The Rockets, minus their star point guard, were not as good as the Warriors. In baseball, great teams lose to good teams in the playoffs just about every year. That’s how it’s different.
Every post in this thread says pre-Yordan Very interesting (no not really) how someone could respond so dismissively otherwise One of the Bussom Buddies actually agreed by "liking" said dismissiveness. No surprise
Dodgers are insecure and burn out every year trying to prove they are the best team in baseball. They only won in the COVID year because it wasn't a full year. Astros know they are good and one thing Dusty and crew do well is sacrifice a few regular season wins with the aim of keeping players fresh for the post-season. I have no doubt this team could have won 110-112 (or more) games, but at what cost? The goal is the trophy, not a regular season won/loss differential.
They didn’t really quit until the Yordan homerun. Game 5 was competitive and the Phillies were right it in with Wheeler dealing. The homerun broke them, capitalized by the Schwarber bunt.
I chalk the 2018 Rockets on bad luck Houston Sports ishhh There's already been 200 seasons of similar Did you know Soto is only 20 y/o ?? The lucky unintentional alley-oop from half-court made a great story for cancer, at least I could go on Go Stros !!! Go Houston
I'll say Game 4 was the beginning of the end... the "turn". Yordan dropped the final dagger Does Schwarber bunt if Philles up 3-2 ??? Stros have to be leading in the series first They had to have lost multiple home games. They were undefeated prior to Game 4, and they lost historically... their great fans boo'd them off the field Game 4
