I still shudder at the last game they wore retro jerseys in... it was a whitewash by the Rangers last year.

And... Pettite started that game too.... EERIE!

The defense is looking good tonight. Hopefully we'll see this type of play all during the playoffs.

I'm begging Rusch to throw that inside pitch to Biggio... DO IT!

EDIT: Damn... I guess they're not as dumb as we all think. Anyways, this next inning is the KEY of the game, IMO. Perez/Lee/Garciappara for them.... Willy/Mo/Lance for us.

Chavez needs to calm this kid down... and they need to stop challenging everybody with fastballs.

Can he not throw a breaking ball for a strike?

I think it was a must send, but why didn't Gibson slide. It would have been a lot closer...

It was a loss I wish we didn't get. It was against the Cubs, but with Wandy pitching I think any win is considered icing on the cake.

Well, this is why I hate playing the cubs. When we play them, they DO NOT look like a sub .500 team. We make them look like they are in the hunt for the wild card.... sigh. :(

Maybe, but I think the only chance he had was trying to jar the ball lose.

just got back from the game. tough, tough, loss. we have nw lost three out of last four against the scrubs. all three being one run games. I have to admit I am a little nervous. I still BELIEVE but the Astros are not there yet... too much talk about the playoffs, we need to get there first.

Yeah I agree because the ball was waaay ahead of the runner - so trying to jar it loose was the best option not slidding.

What bothered me was that Gibson did not try to run on Dempster when Mike Lamb was at the plate. It is supposed to be a must run situation - Mike Lamb should have been asked to take a few pitches and Gibby should have been given the ultimate green light..

Oh well, we will clinch tomorrow. Hernandez will beat Brito and Andy will beat Zambrano - end of story. I prefer it that way anyway since our game is supposed to start one hour five minutes later.

The Pirates and the Cubs have hurt us this year, we could have already clinched by now, if they would simply play as horribly against us as they do everyone else.

Zambrano vs Pettite is a toss up.....which could leave us only 1 game up.....

Or we could clinch......gonna be exciting.

    DD

PS. When I played we had a rule that you always send the runner if it is the go ahead run, but play more cautious with the tying run.....oh well.
