For a one game playoff, it's a coin toss. Which the Astros have lost in years past.

Great game tonight by the Astros, keep it up guys.

    Go Astros!! :)

He's hitting well? Joy! More singles!

I seriously wonder if Jimy Williams even knows what OBP or slugging % is. He had a fondness for high average players who couldn't walk or hit for power in Boston, too.

This is where I think the head-to-head record should come into play. Coin flips are ridiculous. As it works out, the Cubs won the season series from us so they deserve home-field in a one-game playoff.

As much as I hate to do so, I agree. Ill even take it a step further: The only time there should be a one game playoff is if the season series between the two teams were tied.

I believe the Cubs were 9-7 against us this year. So if we have a one game playoff and the Cubs lose, then we go to the playoffs and they don't, despite the fact that the two teams had the same regular season record, and the Cubs had the better head to head record for the whole season (including the one game playoff).

But hey, Ill take anything we can get.

On a "let me just pull something out of the air" note: how good would Podsednik look in CF & batting leadoff for the 'Stros? This kid is a gamer, busts his arse all over the place, should win ROY easily. I'd give up Henri Stanley & Redding or Rosario, gives the Beermakers a replacement in CF (although unproven) and a front of the rotation starter, which they need desperately.

I have to disagree with you there, and not just because that setup would be unfavorable for the Astros this year. The playoff field for baseball is too exclusive for the participants to not be determined on the field.

The Astros already lost the coin toss, so if there is a one-game playoff it will be at Wrigley.

Prior was moved up which means he will be pitching on his normal schedule. Dusty Baker orginally decided to move him back a day to give him more rest but changed his mind.

Roy Oswalt just pitched 2 days ago, him pitching today makes absolutely no sense.

This would be a bad idea. If we can't beat the Brewers without these guys then it doesn't matter anyway. We need to save Roy for the play-in game or game 1 of the NLDS.

Anyone for a little Astros chat tonight?

I've got my Michelob Ultra and my pulled pork bbq(slow cooking now and will be ready by the game). I plan to be ready in style for game time. Just wondering if anyone wants to chat over the game or if it's not likely?

This is off-topic a little bit, but since baseball is entering its best part of its season and the level of interest is really high, I would like to do a little recruiting:

For those who are interested in fantasy baseball or just would like to experience running a team, consider joining our Clutch City OOTP4 sim league. If you go to this forum:

You will see various threads dedicated to this league. It is a little different from a fantasy league as it is actually a computer software program called Out Of The Park (thus the "OOTP"). Currently, we are fixing to start the 2005 season, even though this is the 3rd time that we have started our league over (the other times we reached the 2013 season). Castor runs this "simulation" or sim league and will play 2 weeks a night, normally. Thus, one season can be played in little over 2 months if "simming" is done on a regular basis.

Now, what is different about this compared to fantasy leagues besides the pace? Well, the game dictates how well the players perform by their ratings. As an owner, you have the ability to make trades, sign free agents, run a minor league system, set line-ups, etc. This league is truly addicting and is the best game I have ever played.

In the past, we have had as many as 19 to 20 people in the league with the rest of the teams being run by computer. Currently, the interest is down a slight bit as some people have gotten busy with school and a variety of other things. The American League, in particular, has a majority of computer run teams.

Now for some of you, this post probably makes no sense whatsoever, but for those that are interested, let Castor or someone else in the sim know if you want to take a team. Maybe the best thing is just to post a thread in the Fantasy Forum saying "I Would Like to Run the [insert team name here]"

Okay, sorry for the interruption, back to the 'Stros.:)

The Astros should make a wink wink deal with the Brewers.
