Some of you are acting like Winn is a proven commodity but he's not. He's had one good season in five years now. This is the first time he's ever hit over .280. It's not a given that this year is the real deal.

He's also bad ass, which helps his case.

And this is just comical right here. :D

so you wouldnt trade for Soriano? He's only had 1 good year out of 4. What about Castillo? Out of 6 seasons, this is his 2nd good season. Winn is another example. The only difference is that Winn has had to play for Tampa Bay, while the others have had some bats in their lineup.

You're really reaching man. Soriano is 24 and has not played 4 years. He had 8 at bats in 1998 and 50 at bats in 1999. I think you need more than 130 at bats to be ineligible for Rookie of the Year so when Soriano played last year he was still a rookie. Winn had 338 at bats in his first year so end of story there. The only difference between Soriano and Winn is that Soriano is a potential superstar and Winn might never be heard from again. Even Castillo has hit .300 three times now to Winn's one plus Castillo walks more and steals a hell of a lot more bases.

Couldn't have said it any better rezdawg. Getting that kind of production from the leadoff spot would be a great pick up. Not to mention that he's doing it right now with not nearly the quality hitters behind him that we could offer here.

In 1999, winn played 79 games. In 2000, he played 51 games. He is still young as far as being a baseball player goes. As far as on base percentage, which is crucial for a leadoff hitter, Castillo is at .390 and Winn is at .370. Soriano is at .338.

Im not saying that Winn is the greatest baseball player in the history of the game, but I am saying that he would be a better option than Ward or Hidalgo.
