The price on relievers hasn't been high at all. To stand pat and not even upgrade the pen would be foolish IMO. Can't hold onto all these guys forever. Even though theoretically we should be in this position for years to come, **** happens, it's baseball, we need to try to maximize this opportunity. Not by blowing up the farm of course but with our combination of starters who can't go deep into games and shaky bullpen it's just not a great formula. One of the two has to be upgraded.

Yes but. They had the wildcard lead 10 games ago and now chase 2 teams. Currently 1.5 gms back. Still in it. But recent play hasnt helped them.

Would you guys be interested in Nola?
Fisher,Paulino, Perez, Perez, maybe martes and a sam houston statue. Or is that too much.

why the phillies do it? We give them a position player that will put them back in contention by 2022 . and more younger pitchers for them.

Crack pipe trade of the day.

With a couple of months left in the season, seems early to call it quits when only 1.5 games out. Stranger things have happened though.

Fisher and Paulino? Seems like a lot. Those two have really helped (and probably will continue to help) the team this season.

Paulino isn't helping anybody for the rest of this season, and Fisher is about to be sent down again. Eventually you have to stop protecting every asset you have. Using that logic, Martes, Moran, and White are also untouchable because they've helped the Major League team. It's called a farm system for a reason. You can replenish it, and will have several more opportunities to find the next Derek Fisher. What you won't have are many more opportunities to have home field throughout the entire post-season.

I do think Fiers, or Peacock (or Martes or Musgrove) could be useful in a deal with a team that isn't fully rebuilding (Mets, Rangers, etc.), but there is absolutely zero chance Tampa trades Archer this season.

Does a team really take a risk on Paulino after he got busted? Martes, Fisher, Tucker, Whitley, Perez, and Alvarez are our best chips right now. Moran probably could have been a good piece to add, but him getting hurt probably takes him off the table.

Is it possible to get a deal done centering around our 2nd tier guys like Teoscar, Cionel Perez, and JD Davis? Throw in a high upside youngster like Freddy Nova perhaps?

Oops. I saw Paulino and thought Peacock. I don't see many teams looking to acquire Paulino.

There's one guy out there that I haven't heard much about, and that's Johnny Cueto. This dude was a stud for the Royals 2 years ago in the playoffs. If the Giants won't offer Bumgarner, maybe try to get Cueto. I'd even take on Pence and his salary to try to lower the asking price.

Why in the world would he opt out? That's be dumb of him. Except he starts pitching lights out, that's free money. No way he makes more than 20 mil per somewhere else. Plus didn't he just go on the DL?

The Giants are trying to shop him, per reports, though.

Totally agree.. Small sample size but with a 2-7 record against the top dogs of the AL in Cleveland and Boston.. that shows we need a big piece/pieces to get us over the top right now.

What about what I am doing is suggesting that I am running multiple accounts? I am honestly perplexed... Does nobody on this entire site have any friends? During my lunch on Wednesday I was talking to KevinsBacon about the whole Carmelo thing with the Rockets. I haven't talked to my brother in over a month... Product of medical school... I am super sorry if he and another friend of mine joined and pissed people off, but it's not like I asked for that.

I'll try and talk to them and see if they can slow the role a bit, but that's about all I can do. It's a blog man, and I certainly don't pretend like I can control other people.

I already blocked Kevin's Bacon. Who's your other friend? I have room for block #159. I'm getting older, hate the layout of this site and the constant redirects and only come here for Astros info. The less clutter the better. Thx
