Looks like the bear pups got great value on this trade though. Yanks shouldve called up the rangers but Im glad they didnt.
Rosenthal reporting Astros were talking with a team about Giles who was trying to flip him to Seattle Harper and Herrera to Houston Giles to Seattle Bukauskas and Paulino to Nats Prospect from Seattle to Nats and maybe a lottery ticket type to Houston Who says no?
This means nothing, but Lance McCullers liking this tweet did make me open up to the idea a bit. Mike Rizzo hasn't ruled out trading Harper before the deadline. https://thefandc.radio.com/nationals-mike-rizzo-wont-rule-out-bryce-harper-trade
Yea that’s exactly where I am on this Never liked him much, but get Carlos healthy and add Harper in and I’m gonna feel pretty good about October
I think that’s too much for Houston to give up for two rentals. One of whom might be inferior to Giles. I’d give up Giles for three months of Harper/Herrera but not Bukauskas. And not Paulino on top of Giles.
That sounds like he’d only do Harper for an offer that bowled him over. And F that. But also, those are just words meant for public consumption. And also F those. Any Harper deal is highly unlikely.
Not a fan of getting Harper, but if that's all it costs at least give it a try maybe? But I want to see Giles gone and us upgrade the pen. Herrera I like but I'd prefer him as a setup man to Rondon. If Doolittle was healthy and on the trade block would he be a target to chase? Still prefer a lefty reliever, but we lost out on Hand and Britton (ugh). I love Perez but not quite sure if he's ready for the playoffs (Hinch doesn't seem to think so yet), and I'd like to see him move into the rotation to take Keuchel's spot, so he wouldn't be a long term answer at LHRP.
Wouldn't get Harper then...he won't require a huge haul, but Giles ain't getting it done...and Herrera with him would require more I'm all for Luhnow keeping our top prospects and as I said earlier not a huge Harper fan...but for Harper and Herrera i'd give up those three and wouldn't think twice
I would put Harper's value as similar to Machado, high impact bat as a rental...Machado brought back a low end top 100 guy who I would put similar in value right now to Bukauskas or any of the many guys we have in that range...
Would be fun slapping Hamels and Yu around in the series this year...win back to back and also one more chance to beat up on some rangerrrs
I am sure Cashman is calling Toronto and offering Hensley Muelens, Drew Henson or whatever 50 year old former top prospect they have in their system for Curtis Granderson
