Just read this and couldn't stop laughing [IMG]

Tigers' owner Mike Ilitch indicated that the fences at Comerica Park might be moved in during the offseason, the Detroit News reports.

Look at it this way... if you have the option of not making this trade and keeping Lima through the end of his contract, or making this trade, which do you do? Even if it is a total wash you save $2Mil. Miliki, has shown in the past that he can pitch out of the bullpen. That change alone makes this deal worthwhile. Also the likleyhood of Milicki whining, sulking, and complaining is much less than that of Lima.

Bottom line - all of the major problems with the Astros that I can think of were made to appease or attract fans. I'd imagine that most of the people blasting Lima these last two years, would have been the same ones going crazy if they'd let lima walk.

You have to accept this fact - the Astros in MLB are in the same situation as Iraq in desert storm facing the UN. The 'stros are fighting a battle they can't win and they have to pick their fights so that they give up as little ground as possible.

Pleeze give up the knee-jerk hostility, the why can't we have a $100 milion payroll questions, and accept reality. Constraints on 9/10ths of the teams mean that they will never be consistantly successfull. Get over it. If you want to complain, yell at George Steinbrener. Otherwise, get used to taking pride in the small victories with the knowledge that the war is already lost.

No kidding!!! Next year we are going to trade Brad Ausmus back to Detroit for Chris Holt... But Tal Smiths' brother (Randy) is GM for Detroit, so thats why we trade with those losers all the freakin time. It gets old because it seems like the trades never really help us that much.

Even though there is a big thunderstorm coming my way with 55mph winds, the world seems to be a bit sunnier now.

The only thing that might make a difference is that Lima was not coachable. He still thinks he can throw that 88 mph fastball past people, even after getting torched over and over and over again. Mlicki hopefully will be receptive to coaching.

I could care less about getting Mlicki or losing Lima, all I care about is getting Redding in the rotation. I have heard so much about this guy, so I'm ready to see him. He's 24, and supposed to be a true gem, so actually he's a little late arriving considering guys like Ryan and Maddux all arrived at age 22 or before. If he is as good as expected, we may have the most dynamic young pitching staff in the league...Oswalt, Miller, Redding, Elarton, and the old horse Reynolds. Hopefully Elly gets everything worked out. Who said this team needed pitching? [IMG] Now if only we could move these fences back a little.

It sort of bothered me that the other players didn't think Lima'd been given a fair shake. I mean, he was awful for 1.3 years or so, what more do they want?

I hope the Astros don't develop a bad reputation.

Its pretty amazing that the 'Stros have had Elarton, Miller, Oswalt, now Redding, plus Garcia and the other guy from the Seattle trade all come up in their system recently. Great job of developing the players internally! The 'Stros gave Lima a chance to turn it around, and it didn't work. Now maybe the change of scenery thing will work.

What else could Lima do? I wonder if Detroit has Casa Ole? [IMG]
    Quotes from the Chronicle
"If I'm not pitching," Lima said, "why fight? Why make it hard on the Astros? I wasn't helping the team. I wasn't going to say no (to a trade). At least somebody wanted me."

"I'm already sad," Lima said. "I had some great teammates here. I loved my fans. I deserved to be booed. I love the fans and have nothing against them."

"At least I know everybody in Houston has my autograph," he said with a laugh.

Redding struck out the first batter he faced. He walked Jr. Griffey and then gave up a HR to Casey.

Reds 2, Astros 0...bottom of the first

You know, there is one change that I'd like to see at Enron field. I'd like to see them change the out of the park line in left field. They should put a foul pole at the end of the Crawford boxes & move the yellow stripe to the top of the wall. If you hit the ball into the Crawford boxes or between the foul poles, it's a homerun. Otherwise, you would have to clear the wall for a homerun. If the ball is hit into one of the archways or the bullpen, then it should be considered a ground rule double. Making that change would turn the left field wall into a form of the Green Monster in Boston. Have we had an in the park homerun yet? I don't know the numbers for this year, but last year the opposing teams hit 2-3 times as many homeruns, in that part of the field, as the Astros did, while the Astros hit 2-3 times as many into the Crawford boxes. Imho, This one change would help our pitching staff & would make the game a little more exciting. Our guys play 81 games a year here, so they'd be able to adjust to the carooms off the wall, while the opposing teams only play 8 games a year here. Let's increase our home field advantage. [IMG]
