Athletics acquire Jed Lowrie & Fernando Rodriguez for Chris Carter, Brad Peacock & Max Stassi MLB Twitter
Cool? I'm guessing the best player we got back was Peacock? I'll wait for tellitlikeitis to tell me whether to be happy, mad, or meh.
cool. Wonder if this is comparable to what we could have gotten for Lowrie in the midst of his great start to the season (when half the people wanted to deal him) and yes, waiting for tellitlikeitis
I'm surprised Oakland gave up their top pitching prospect for an semi-healthy SS that is becoming more expensive each year.
Wow. Looks like Peacock was a Baseball America Top 50 prospect in 2011. High ERA in the minors last year because he had some control problems, but good strikeout numbers. Supposedly he got better as the season went on. He can throw heat.
Reading up the on the players acquired the trade looks to be a very good one. Will be interested as others have said in tellitlikeitis take.
although I know NOTHING about the players acquired from the A's, Luhnow made it clear that the only way he was trading lowry (cheap, big upside for a ss) was if he was 'blown away' by an offer. I'm assuming the A's blew him (away) otherwise I doubt he'd do the deal, especially since he was injured and his numbers dropped. Otherwise, it would've made more sense to hold on to him, hope for a good 1st half then trade him, no? yes? So who blew whom? away, that is
lol..what I LOVE about clutchfans is there are more comments on the Lowrie trade than on astros.mlb.com message boards. CFers rule! Where any conversation happens.
It looks like Stassi becomes the Astros top catching prospect. Brad Peacock adds another interesting arm to the battle for rotation spots. With regular playing time Chris Carter will hit 30+ HR... THIS YEAR. But now who plays SS... Marwin Gonzalez? Jimmy Paredes? Yikes.
lol...I like what Luhnow is doing with the minor league system. ESPN just ranked us 4th best in the league. Great for the (hopefully) near future. But, yikes, who IS playing SS now? And obviously Crane and Luhnow aren't too worried about fans this year...in a twisted way, I actually respect that. They are rebuilding--the right way--no matter what the fan perception is and the crap product on the field.
Carlos Rodon here we come! Also I believe we would be the first ever MLB team to pick first in the draft for three straight years
