It won't be as fun without Conger in the dugout but you can't be a catcher that never throws anyone out. Then, you are just a liability. His bat was okay but not good enough to make up for it. It kind of sucks to see Carter go but he has to play everyday to get it done and it was obvious the Astros weren't going to do that. And, he would still strike out a lot. Who is going to replace Conger at catcher cause I doubt Castro is up for it full-time?
Conger had legitimate pop. I think he has legitimately improved as a hitter. Having said that, he still had an enormous hole in his swing (Kurt Manwaring size) that wasn't going to go away and that would limit his hitting. Defensively, probably the worst I have ever seen throwing runners out... Dave Drevecky would do as well back there. Conger seemed like a nice guy and I hope he gets a bionic arm so he can keep getting paid.

How can you put a pricetag on that kind of dugout shennanigans? If he ever wanted to, Hank Conger would make an outstanding bullpen coach.

All these moves by the Astros are great moves, basically we are just cutting the dead weight. A catcher that can't throw, a DH/1B can't hit for shlt with under .200 average most of the season, a 3b can't stay healthy at all and also not a good hitter, anther 3b whose a failed project. This team will be better off just by cutting these dead weights out.
