RT @BNightengale: White Sox have Edwin Jackson included in package for Dunn. If Sox get Dunn, then will try to land Brett Myers #hounews Beckham isn't going anywhere.
castro can/shoul be thrown in the mix if need be too, but that doesn't seem like wade/drayton's style
Soria is one of the best closers in the game -- Lindstrom doesn't compare. Further, the Yankees already have a 1B locked in for a long-time.. so basically, Berkman would be a half-season DH rental. Would you trade your top hitting prospect for that? Maybe if you had a shot at the WS and wanted to go all-in.. but the Yankees have a shot every year. There's no need for them to give up that kind of value. I don't think Montero will be a big league catcher -- I haven't heard many great things about his defense and most seem to assume that he'll play 1B/DH. I'm not sure I'd want to give up Castro for him -- perhaps Wallace, but when you're throwing Wallace in on top of Berkman, etc.. that's a pretty steep price to pay for another prospect who has yet to prove anything.
well, i wouldn't even consider giving up my best hitting prospect for one of the best closers in the game, personally (and he wouldnt even be their closer). the yankees care more about the present, as they should. it's a formula that works for them. pay for FA's, trade prospects for MLB'ers that will help immediately.
quick responses: wallace has yet to do anything either, i'd sure as hell rather have montero than wallace, and castro, imho, is easily replaceable down the line, whether montero is staying at catcher or not.
Latest slightly better than grain of salt interweb rumor. Berkman to Yankees, announcement tomorrow. Myers could be thrown in for right price... if not, Myers to CWS.
Well, I shouldn't say right on but the source(twitter) did have the right teams involved before any of the national/Justice had him going to the Sox or Yanks.
@JimBowdenXMFOX: White Sox still discussing Dunn and Berkman but a scout told Mark Gonzalez Chisox chasing a reliever as well....DC next w/Bill Ladson
