buster olney reporting astros picking up most of what is owed to berkman? really? i mean really? what are the astros doing? the yankees have money out the rear and you pick up the tab?
jimcallisBA RT @mikeaxisa: Jimmy Paredes was yanked from Charleston's lineup late, he could be on his way to Houston
If true, that is so dumb. The prospects you are getting back are not considered anything. Plus you pay the majority of his salary. Makes no sense. Ed Wade is worse than Tim Poopra.
NOT CONFIRMING ANYTHING BUT..... SportsOn1 Trentonian reports Kevin Russo (AAA) and Jimmy Paredes (A) in Berkman deal.
I came to this thinking recently. Well not really but if you're eating money left and right, minus well eat some of Carlos' money.
Both those players suck...this is a terrible deal. I'd rather keep Berkman. This does Houston no good, specially if we are picking up the majority of the tab on Berkmans contract.
because all we need for all minor league levels and the big club is one SS. of course! The Astros were devoid of talent. He's going to get some; hopefully he'll be able to deal them for other pieces if needed. At this point, assets are assets.
According to Yankees Daily blog, Paredes projects as a future 3rd baseman. http://www.yankeesdaily.com/?p=11707
Exactly. You have until August 31 to trade him because nobody would claim him. If somebody happened to claim him, they would responsible for his contract. I can’t believe Wade paid the majority of his contract and still got terrible players. He did it yesterday with the Oswalt trade and did it again today. This guy is clueless.
Bingo, what did people expect for Puma? If this is truly the deal then it gives the minors more depth. That is the issues with minors, the Stros have no depth and all these assets will help with that. I also don't think Wade is done, the excuses for Pence not being in the lineup are horses#$#%t...somethings up.
Not that inspiring numbers: http://www.baseball-reference.com/minors/player.cgi?id=parede001jim Looks like he's a 2B now, and played 3B last year. Is a 21 year old in A ball (SAL league) this year and sporting a .312 OBP. Seems to have some XBH potential, and definitely speed (36 steals, 6 triples). But the Astros have Jose Altuve in the same league, a year younger, also a 2B, who has 39 steals and an OPS that's 80 points higher.
