not that hunter pences grow on trees... but he'd be easier to find than a scott kazmir.

looks at kazmir's #s in his three full years playing an unbalanced schedule featuring the red sox and yankees. tha guy isn't even 24 yet!

Agreed. Kazmir is a bona fide stud.

You are not counting leadership, heart, and fire, which are not easy to find.

    Hunter has those in spades.

Look at the free agent market for outfielders. Look at the market for pitching. Tell me which is easier to find.

Yes, but can you find bellyfullofguts, leadership, awesome heart, etc?

    Please note my sarcasm.

Hunter Pence is going to be a prototypical + #3 hitter for many years..This guy can turn on a fast ball and makes people pay for mistakes. He has proven himself beyond a few turns through the League. We still don't know what his upside really is.I don't think it's out of the realm of comprehension at this point to say he could hit.340 + and belt out as much as 30 -40 /yr for a long time.

Add in his jumps on defense/range plus the arm which will be shown off now in right.

Yes we need pitching but NO not at the expense of Hunter.

I'm not advocating trading Hunter Pence, but do you realize how rare the type of player you are talking about is? I really doubt he is a .340+ hitter with 30-40 homerun power.

Yeah,I guess I see him as a special player.I realize how high I set the bar.,justtxyank, but that's what I see.Pence is young, loves the game,it comes to him naturally. The dude is a porifera as far as the nuances.

His power #s should increase for sure and I see that batting average last year being the tip of the iceberg.

He's going to have protection like a mother....lots of fastballs to hit.

And it doesn't hurt having Lance Berkman help you with what is already a beautiful swing.

I just don't imagine he'll be able to do that consistently. Maybe 1 or 2 seasons with those types of numbers, but no way I see him being one of the all-time great players.

you need to buckle up for some disappointment.

if we're lucky, hunter'll drop .290-.300/20-25/.900+ on us with relative consistency. anything beyond that - and certainly ANYTHING in the area you're expecting - simply isn't realistic.

there's NOTHING in his history to suggest .340+/30-40 is even a possible one-season anomaly, and certainly not something we can look for "for a long time."

I agree. Those are Instant Hall of Fame type numbers. Lance Berkman is one of the best hitters in baseball and he doesn't put up those numbers.

Ric, it´s HUNTER PENCE!!! we´re talking about here. The kid eats tenpenny nails & craps razor blades.

My favorite part was the ¨he´ll get to show off his arm in RF this year¨.

Pence will hit for high average and more power.

The fact that he's already 24 works against him as far as the Hall but he does he have the talent to crank out some fantastic numbers over the next 8 -10 years.

    .330 350 HR minimum

Listen.your sarcasm is out of line and if you want to do that address me directly.

You think I'm just dreamcasting bud don't ya.I'll make you a $200 bet to the tip jar.....

Hunter goes for .330 + 30 HR and 100 RBI THIS year.
A major injury blows up the bet

    Yay or nay

    You´re killing me, Smalls.

Ruth, Gehrig, Williams, Musial are the only 4 players in the history of baseball to put up those numbers.
