I liked what he has done so far, maybe he will be more inclined to give Anderson and Towels a good chance to start the season in the bigs.
"We need to see what these young guys can do" is a hell of alot better than "We are gonna give Jason Lane another shot"
Great hire! I believe Cecil will turn this ballclub around. Now it is up to Wade to sign some key free agents and rebuild the minor league system.
Nothing against Coop, but I'm not big on the idea of promoting from within without at least doing a coaching search first. The football team at my alma mater did that this past year and now they REALLY suck. Coop is 13-15 since taking over. Eh, not bad I guess.
We going to suck next year, whoever is our manager. After we rebuild (which will take at least two years), Drayton can then seriously evaluate the manager position. Until then, ftw.
he has never gone out and gotten a top-flight skipper so dream on but it sure does help see 2006 Tigers and 2007 Cubs
What about the 1997, 1998, 1999, 2001 Astros? How about the 2004, 2005 Astros? They have all done more than the 2007 Cubs.
oh, you mean like we did in 2004 when we got to game 7 of the NLCS. got it. coming from nothing??? did you see the payroll the cubs added in the offseason???
no way you use this season as a measuring stick. i like this move, if for no other reason than he paid his dues and worked his way up. and the fact that he said we will focus on 3 things this offseason: pitching defense speed sounds good to me.
